I thought I wouldn't be watching the CL Final Live as I don't subscribe to BT Sport. However, I do have a very basic Virginmedia service and have just noticed that they are showing it at no charge. So, anyone with Virginmedia who doesn't subscribe to BT Sport, it might be worth checking. I don't know if other companies such as Sky are showing it too. Unfortunately, Crawley didn't qualify
Genuinely surprised that it was available on a great quality live stream via You Tube, with no complications. Well done.
I thought it was a decent enough game, but largely cos two slow & ponderous English sides - who fell over & tried to cheat at every single opportunity - were well handled by a Ref, who genuinely made every effort to keep it flowing.
ps. Both CL wins for Chelsea have been with a Manager appointed halfway through the season...!
All the talk of how keeping the ball and causing overloads when pressing high up the pitch comes to nothing. Charles Reep would have been very proud of Chelsea's game plan. Win the ball and get it forward in two passes or less.
Apparently I'm a dinosaur for saying that way can work. Me and Tommy together in the Jurassic.

Jim Baker
Actually Jim, I get your point, but in that philosophy the 2nd ball was almost exclusively a deep early cross into the area, hoping the big number 9 had make his way to the 'POMO'
Whilst Chelsea won the ball & hit it long, their first objective thereafter appeared to be exclusively focussed on securing a set-piece.
I felt Tommy had more accurately revisited the old skool "catenaccio" approach, much favoured by the likes of Inter Milan in the Sixties...(?)
Thad, I tend to agree with that. I also think long aimless punts upfield should only be done when in danger of losing the ball in a pomo.
The other thing I noticed was that, for all the talk about retaining possession, the last five minutes City were throwing the ball long, passing the ball long and hoping to win the second ball in the area. Now that is the dreaded English long ball game. It didn't work because City are not set up for it. They should of brought Matt Harrold on.

So fortune really did favour the brave as far as the owners judgement was concerned. Was a good final which makes a change these days. Pep tried to be adventurous...the German didn't, stick to plan boys!
