Steve; I can see and accept the reasons behind differential pricing for a big game but for Newport on a Tuesday?
The club invested a tidy sum into a ticketing system that slowed the whole issuing of tickets down..something had to be done as once a seat is sold you can't promise it again but that has been the main reason for queues.
Jim Baker
I would have said precisely for Newport on Tuesday, it’s especially on wintery evening games when people think they can often turn up just before kick off and sail in. In a perfect world they would be able to of course - at a club with limited ticketing staff, it’s an issue. Have to be honest I don’t quite understand your point about the new system making things worse, have seen the same big queues at the stadium for many years. We could employ more staff of course if people think that’s the priority, but that will logically leave us with less money for that Oli Palmer replacement people also want etc etc
I’d also say we’ve gone through a manager a season/or so for quite a few years now. It’s starting to be wishful thinking in my view that doing it again now would produce greatly different results.
Isn’t the truth of it that we’ve been a league club for a dozen years now and the novelty has worn off for quite a few? I’m not a long term fan of the club by any means compared to many but I remember the struggles of the Conference days and think what we have now is still pretty good compared to that. We’re still at a high point in club history and we’re maintaining that thanks to one man, a Turkish steel businessman of all people. He goes and then everyone will truly see where the current level of club infrastructure puts us in the league pyramid. I don’t think we’ll be playing teams like Orient and Bradford
The ticketing system the club invested in is slow. It also seems to rely on a patchy Internet system which adds to the wait time for a purchase to go through. This adds to the queues outside the ticket office. That ain't rocket science.
I havent said we need a new manager but I can understand those wishing for it. Personally I feel the club will have to back a manager with funds (for better players) sooner or later otherwise we will drop a couple of divisions. Whether that is Yems or someone else I have no say but I always wish Yems the best because he is a decent bloke and obviously cares.
Get rid of the extra charge for on the day purchases.
I used to work for a company where I could sometimes get away a bit early. If I could to the football I would go. Not if I was paying extra I wouldn't.
West Ham (for instance) playing away. Bump into some friends, fancy coming to watch Crawley? You'll just have to pay a bit extra because you didn't plan it. Damn silly idea.
The only way teams such as Crawley can prosper is to make the product entertaining and inviting. Not a single shot in the first half yesterday and charging extra for people turning up on the door, throwing people out of the bar! Not really succeeding at the moment are we?
Jim Baker
All valid points; penalising attenders on the day, letting the catering go west, the stewards getting heavy in the bar, is just counterproductive and off- putting.
If the owner invests in a few proven quality players in the next window, that settle in and turn the poor form, everyone's morale will go up and fans will be interested in attending. Is his interest in the club just a Turkish domestic prestige thing, owning an English League club; drafting in legions of fringe hopefuls to the squad, is not a policy for progress.
Seems trivial but point on tea bars rings so true. Always long queues and organised so that nobody is fast tracked - a cup of coffee waits for somebody to order, collect and pay for their burgers etc despite fact the coffees /teas / snacks/ cold dinks could be served easily at same time. Was so much better last year with Tilgate in attendence.
The last twenty odd years would be home and away, I really would bust a gut to get to the games, swapping work hours and adjusting the timesheet to cheer on the men in red. Having retired just over four years ago and having time in abundance, it was great to be able to watch any game I wanted to !!
But, even since we’ve been allowed back, I’ve only watched two games thus far - Salford and Sutton United. As said in previous posts, I was penalised for buying a ticket on the day, only £2 I know, but I still watched the same game as everyone else. There was nothing seen to entice me back. The reason most of the current squad were playing Non League, is because they’re not good enough for the EFL..
I now choose to watch the highlights on Quest, normally shown last in the pecking order on there, too. I wonder why?
There just doesn’t seem to be any leaders or players with a winning mentality any more.
Sadly, I’ve fallen out of love with the Club and now I have other interests.

Shame to read this JTG - don't give up as the club needs the support you give and have given - I'm sure there's lots you would still enjoy even if just a good old moan with your friends.

Yes, it is a shame to hear that fans like John and many others are no longer coming, particularly as it is barely 9 months since pretty much the same squad of players stuffed a Premier League team in the FA Cup. Is it because your favourite player is no longer playing, John? 🙂

Long story short, moved in with family in LA* as lockdown was looming... ended up getting a flat there. Commitments to others mean that nowadays I am invariably occupied on matchdays, so far I have made it to two this season. So - yes - I have lost the habit... but I miss the 1st hand experience so badly.
In fact... when you lot are moaning like billy-o about performances, results & tea-bars... I am jealous... even of your misery...!
