Well, maybe some Americans will start to know where Crawley is if as a result of this we turn out to be the next Brentford or something
Can we dream - why not - imagine going up the leagues and everybody despising us but we wouldn't care if we were winning ! Icing on the cake would be an away win at the Amex!

But what if we turn out to be the next Bury? Bobbed along in League 2 for many years, changed ownership in 2018 and a year later they were dead.
The sad fact historically is that football clubs do attract disproportionately people who are little more than spivs or chancers. 2005 wasn’t all that long ago.
Everyone needs to cool their jets a bit until we find out who the sniffing around people actually are and then we can take a measure of the credibility of who is supporting them locally

Bury were a bit of a yo-yo club that went up and down quite regularly between Leagues 1 and 2 for the last 10 years or so before they went dormant. There is stuff I've heard about them coming back into the English league system next term as Gigg Lane and some of the club's assets were recently bought by a fan's trust, although there are many complicated legal issues that need to be sorted out.
From what I have heard so far (and again don't take my word for granted) these people that want to buy us are aiming to invest heavily in the club in order to get us up through the divisions, which is why I am feeling more optimistic than pessimistic in regards to us changing owners. Again, repeating my previous comments on this thread, Ziya Eren did a great job for us in regards to helping support us financially during the worst of Covid without minimal fuss or bragging too much about it. But I have sensed this season that investment has been scaled back somewhat, which I think has led to John Yems appearing a frustrated figure at times when responding to some decisions made, and I'd argue if the right people are around now would be an ideal time to move into a new era for the club.

Also Yems could be the perfect pantomime villain type character that would be great at getting on other clubs' fans' nerves, especially if he's able to put together a truly awesome team next season after being given a big transfer kitty
To be honest I don’t think we need to spend volumes of money on improving the team - yes we need strengthening in certain positions but we do have a squad when fully fit to be capable of getting towards the top end of the league

True - but the squad is NEVER close to being fully fit. I think we need a revamp of the medical/physio department. We seem to have had a ridiculous amount of players out injured this season, and not just minor ones but big injuries. Players can disappear for months at a time, and there is zero information coming out of the club regarding what the injuries are, or how long the players will be out for. And often, when players do come back, it's obvious that they still aren't fully fit, and either struggle to perform to their previous levels (RGC, Nichols for a while) or get injured again (Tunnicliffe).
Training on an artificial pitch clearly isn't great. If we do get new owners, I hope they can sort us out a training ground, or at least get us training on a decent grass pitch, whoever it belongs to. With a fully fit squad we do have a shout at the play offs.

You do like telling everyone on here what to do and think. It is all just rumour and speculation at the moment, so it doesn't matter what we say on here, it's all guesswork. Oh, and 2005 was 17 years ago.

I’d just be happy with a squad that we didn’t have to sell the best players to survive. This season would of been so different if we didn’t have to sell Watters

Maybe but it might also be the likes of: - taking the scalp of Leeds in the 3rd round of the FA Cup - getting a free-scoring L2 player for free - months later, flogging him for a healthy profit - getting through lockdown reasonably unscathed... ...that helps to make us an attractive prospect to potential owners...(?)

By coincidence : I believe - and stand to be corrected - that April 1st 2005, was the morning when we were apparently "purchased" by a Russian Oligarch & his corporation...(?)
How much has covid and long term effects affected the squad? Don't think its necessarily all black and white.
Because there is zero info coming from the club regarding the injury status of players, we just never know why certain players go AWOL for weeks at a time. I know the club are under no obligation to tell us anything, but the wall of silence regarding player fitness etc, is incredibly frustrating for fans.
They could have had covid, might have a minor injury, a major injury, they might just be being rested or struggling for match fitness, out of favour, frozen out (Dallison) ..... we just never know. So it's hard to gauge why certain players are lacking form at certain times. But I still think training on an artificial pitch is working against us.

Yes, we never did get to the bottom of that mystery, did we? :-)
