Sad thing bout all this is Morris, Appiah, Davies & Ludwig would ALL be in Most CTFC Fans Starting XI.
Balagizi Injured, Lynch now Injured Again, Ludwig now Handing in Transfer Request, Morris Gone, Appiah Gone, Davies Gone! It really does Beggar Belief what damage this Manager has done!
You think he’s decent? Good God Steve, you’re very easily pleased.🙄

No I was agreeing with Dave. Is he also easily pleased?
I am actually, but yeah I do think it's a bit strange that people are piling on Corey of all people. He came in as back-up, is having to play every week because Balcombe got injured and is doing better than most would have expected him to. He's not perfect and concedes some sloppy goals, but that's why he came in as second choice. He's also made some important saves, has eased pressure by coming for crosses when we've refused to do any defending, and whisper it quietly, but I've seen Morris concede some really soft goals for Gillingham this season. Obviously I still rate Glenn higher and would love him back, but think people forget how many goals we still conceded even when he was between the sticks.
Our biggest problem this season has been scoring goals, so it's just a bit weird that our back-up goalie playing behind a leaky defence that changes personnel every single week is getting it in the neck more than our limp attack.

Well there can't have been that much in it. At the start of the season Balcombe had played 15 league games and Corey none. And we have Robson and Greensall (no league games between them) as back up.
Plus 22 conceded is the second worst in the league, the GK is part of that.

If you can't score, then the very best you can hope for is a 0-0.
If you can't defend, then you will never win............. Such a simple game to play and the hopeless Betsy can't grasp the simplicity !!

I'm confident Morris could've saved at least 4-5 of the goals Cory has let in. How many times over the last 5 or 6 years has Glenn bailed us out in games, how many times could you say Cory has had an impact on the results or made great saves, not many. I don't think Cory is a bad keeper, just an average keeper who is good at kicking the ball which was probably why Betsy was so keen on him. Glenn's kicking was very hit and miss, but he was one of those, y'know, 'old fashioned' keepers that was good at saving shots rather than passing from the back.

Well at 38 Glenn had to be replaced eventually but bringing in 4 keepers with 15 league games between them doesn't sound that smart.

In fact this could be seen as a waste of money. Maybe a bit different if the first choice keeper was going to be ours in the long run but as he was only a loanee we were always going to lose him anyway.
We only brought in Robson and Greensall due to the injury to Balcombe. Hopefully the new boss won't extend Morris' loan at Gillingham and we can get him back for the second half of the season. Addai will be back-up. He's done ok for a lad with no prior FL experience. He's a good shot stopper, will definitely improve over time. his distribution is good, but he really needs to work on his positioning at free kicks.

Glenn let numerous shots in from long range last season and as Dave who has been monitoring his progress at the Gills has relayed, hasn't been faultless this one either. In many ways Glenn and Corey's strengths and weaknesses are oddly similar - both great at one on ones, but there's been range-shots that have left you wondering if better could be done. Will be for the new manager to decide but it's not an obvious one that will change our results for me, given the problems have mainly been the link between midfield and forwards.

I think (although this is most likely a controversial view) if Glenn Morris has been in goal for our games this season instead of Corey Addai we would still be in the bottom 2. Yes Addai has let in a few free kicks and maybe had a poor afternoon on Saturday but I think he has been unfairly scapegoated for our poor start when there are other players I think deserve to be criticised more

I've said this before on here I know, but I lost count the number of times Morris' kicks would go out of play last season, so I could to an extent understand why Betsy didn't want to keep him as first choice goalkeeper as he would have been totally unsuited to what Betsy was trying to do. I'd agree at the moment Addai is alright and would be a very decent back-up/cup goalie (which was the initial plan but Balcome got injured pretty much straight away after signing) but some of the stuff I've seen about him would make you think he was like Blondy (who I'm sure you'd agree with me Alex was dreadful)

Yeah that Blondy was terrible. Cory is easily much better than him, but I still rate Morris as the best we’ve had.
