So, after an undistinguished playing career SC has had a brief and not particularly successful spell as manager of Swindon and now CTFC are apparently paying compensation to sign him when more experienced managers are waiting on the shelf.
What stats are WAGMI looking at to even consider appointing Lindsey? I hope any deal falls through and we can recruit a decent, L2 experienced manager with at least a degree of success.
If Lindsey gets appointed any remnants of faith I have in WAGMI to get something right will disappear.
You are losing the fans here WAGMI, if you haven't lost the vast majority of them already!
A regular at The Country Ground are you? Tell me, what part of his performance do you think the Swindon fanbase should be please with?
Is it the football? Passing side to side with little penetration having scored just 4 goals in the last 6 games? (I think 1 or 2 from open play). It's doubtful that even Charlie Austin would do well under him - he'd barely get the ball. Are we supposed to be happy with that?
League position? 8th - and plummeting. There was a time this season where Swindon were challening for the top 2 thanks to a decent run in a poor league. But that seems a distant memory now and we're 17th in the league form table thanks to a run of truly dismal performances over the last 10 games or so. Are we supposed to be happy with that?
To say he wasn't given a chance shows just how little you know about the situation. To say he wasn't given a chance shows that you have not spent week in, week out watching his boring, ineffective football (yet). He has been given a chance and it's come to the point where it's clear he just doesn't have what it takes. It also seems the players have lost faith in him.
Maybe it will work for you. Managers seem to do well or poorly at different clubs so maybe Crawley is 'his' club and it will all click for him there. But the evidence so far shows that he is out of his depth. If it doesn't work, then how long will your fanbase put up with dire football and awful results? Will they then be toxic if they're unhappy with a manager whose performing woefully?

To be honest, we will just think Kevin Betsy has been reappointed.

Don’t think anything can top that form 😂(our worst manager EVER) it’s why we’re in our current position.

ADMIN: A couple of posts on this thread were deleted because they quoted another post but added NOTHING to the quote - perhaps a mistake? nevertheless as they add nothing to the 'debate' they have no purpose and will be deleted as soon as possible.
Scott Lindsey may have had only a brief league career, but has been a progressive coach....
Lincoln City assistant manager / caretaker manager Tamworth assistant manager Swindon youth coach Forest Green asssistant manager Swindon manager...
Not given a chance by a toxic fanbase despite being top 8 for most of the season
Toxic? The only toxic behaviour came from the bench every game with all his assistants screaming and swearing at the player’s continually. That should never happen. We gave him backing but would you put up with ALL the possession each game and little penetration, nice pretty patterns, no end result, we haven’t won at home since October! and it’s getting worse. There wasn’t any recognised plan b, never a change in system to suit how the game was progressing and never an admission that it needed to change. We get @10,000 fans at every home game all wanting him to succeed as he’s a great person, but nothing changed, and now it seems he’s lost the changing room! Last straw! Time for someone new and wish him well.
Deal appears to be done for Lindsey. Will be announced tomorrow instead from the sounds of it
I really hope that is not the case as another user herein mentions, the club will lose the remaining fan base if that's the case. It is inevitable that at some point form will dip if SL is in charge and the fans will turn quickly nastily and in demand of his removal. Why appoint a manager that has little to no chance of fan base support? Its clear and obvious he is not wanted.

I doubt 99% Crawley fans want him BUT we don't appoint and those that do the appointment would lap all the above up and there we have the problem!
I’m not going to build an argument for why he should be appointed (assuming he’s given the job- like most posters I wouldn’t appoint him, but given their previous appointments they were always going to go left field).
BUT once the appointment is made, we are going to need to support him and the team. There’s no alternative- continuing the negativity (even if it’s warranted) is going to result in a poor atmosphere and a return to non-league, (the owners deserve to fail given the catalogue of poor decisions but we must maintain our league status).
The ownership don’t seem to think we’re in a relegation battle, but everyone on here does and the investment required to get out of the National League will be beyond our means (and seeing how clubs fare going down to the National League, we would have a rocky time of it).
This is a big appointment; despite our misgivings we will have to get behind it.

I think we were all prepared to get behind Etherington (whether we agreed with the appointment or not) but he didn't stick around long enough to make his mark on things.
If what we are hearing about Lindsey is accurate, we are in for more dreadful performances like we had under KB, and a relegation scrap. Kinda difficult to get enthusiastic about that. I'm sure everyone bar 57IQ will support the players 100%. Whether Lindsey gains our support depends on the job he does. I will back him and the team regardless. You never know, he could prove everyone wrong.
He can *** off and if he is appointed I hope the fans DO NOT back him and let the owners know what they think. "We want Lewis Young say we want Lewis Young" sing up Reds!
Seems strange that you plump for Young a newbie with no experience and slate another newbie with a bit more experience - heart ruling head I think
