I think any neutrals wouldve loved today, but for Crawley fans we never do it the easy way. Corey made up for his error and 7 minutes ET I couldnt wait for the whistle. Ref very poor missed pen for foul on Telford and had he gone down he may have got it. Other decisions and stuff ref let go showed himself to be unfit to ref league 2.
Corey gets some stick…. But never mind the penalty save, his save around the left post in the first half was incredible.
Don’t be fooled - Yes, he helped to win three point’s yesterday, but just how many points has he cost us?
JTG
How many points would you say he has cost us then, what mistakes have actually cost the team points in your opinion (ie; drawing and being at fault for a goal to see us lose?), I’m struggling to think?
Im not saying he’s the top goalie in the league but for a league two goalie I’m not sure what you are expecting as all goalies make mistakes especially in the lower leagues

To be fair I think John is right to a certain extent. Yes Corey has improved in the last couple of months thanks to an extended run in the side, but just off the top of my head away at Stockport we lost 2-1. First goal he came rushing out his goal and ended up in no man’s land and second goal he went for a cross he didn’t need to and missed the ball and their player headed into an empty net.
Well, we’ll have to agree to see those goals differently Alex! For the first one, I thought he came out of his goal to offer an angle for the defender to back pass it for a clearance… instead of which the defender lost the ball and enabled their player to run in and pass to a totally unmarked forward. Yes, he probably shouldn’t have come for the cross for the second but once again a forward was in the middle of our penalty box totally unmarked. If we are going to tot up how many points he has allegedly cost us then we should go through the whole squad and do the same for everyone else for all the bits of naff defending, missed tackles, goalscoring chances spurned etc. And, most of all, we should include the owners and DoF in that as it is their piss poor appointments, recruitment and letting good players go for spurious reasons which have cost us the most. We should never have been anywhere near our current position.
I can understand both points of view. I admit I am undecided on Correy at the moment. Yes his positioning for crosses and at free kick could be better (Northampton home) but he has certainly improved under the new coach, Stephen Hale.
Also as a goalkeeper, his mistakes tend to lead to more goals conceded than any other player. Only strikers missing penalties or open goals is remembered as causing us to lose points.
Also be does not cause goal opportunities by fouling just out the box. Looking at the league 2 stats, there have been 197 shots on target against us this season (135 saves), both the second highest in the league. Only Hartlepool have higher figures. This indicates the defence in front of Correy, is partly to blame for the amount of games we have lost. The save percentage of 68% (all keepers) is very similar to Glen's of 68.3% last season. Last season we were 3rd highest in shots faced and saves made, again indicating the defence was an issue. We just managed to win more games away (8 instead of 1_ so far). Our home record is about the same.
Hopefully he will improve with experience, but we definitely need an experienced keeper next year so they can compete for the jersey.

Stephen’s work with him is paying off, he’s MUCH better at defending free kicks now. I also agree I think a lot of the time he can make some mistakes and his goal kicks are terrible but he has had an unsettled defence in front of him most of this season and the signing of Gordon and Conroy finally being fit has helped us.
On keepers,I wish they would not come so far out of their box. At one stage on Saturday,Correy was standing just outside the centre circle! I remember shouting at Glen Morris last season to get back in his box a number of times too. It seems to be the modern way keepers now play, also thinking they are a forward looking defender and can beat players, like Correy did yesterday once.
The full backs are similar too. They are often better attacking wingers than they are defenders. It is like when I was young, when everyone wanted to play up front!
