Ive long said if we were relegated you'll never see us return, more likely fold as a club. In many respects weve started really well this season and keep form up we'll be safe long before the season ends. League status has to always be the first aim for the club.
I have to agree. But he isnt the only one struggling at bang average L2. Lost today because we havnt enough quality and a poodle in attack when we need a Greyhound and Rottweiller. Either pay up give SL the dough or do one WAGMI.
If only it were so simple. We are lucky to have benefited from Wagmi investment but there is only so much they can do. I think we are more than likely on an overall downward spiral leading back to our natural non league home where we have spent many happy years.
How are we on a downward spiral if we are playing better and much higher up in the league than the last season? Just seems an unnecessarily negative overreaction to what was a frustrating loss. MK Don’s play at a 30,000 seater stadium in a town twice the size with a much larger catchment area. They’ve spent most of the last 10-15 years in League One. They should be beating teams like Crawley. We competed on the pitch, but were let down with a bit of quality and composure going forward. On another day we would’ve won. We already beat them at home this season. We are mid table team in League Two not a non league team. We have just as much right to at this level as everyone else at this level.

I would go further and say we have *more* right to play at this level than MK. At least we earned that right rather than having it stuck for us on a candy floss stick.

I agree totally George that this year we are ok. My reaction was more towards club ownership and the opportunity we offer. in my view it is very limited and unless someone can find an innovative approach we will only go backwards (over time - I suggest in a maximum of ten years time we wont be a league club). Wagmi have been almost been hounded out and we can only hope somebody with deep pockets fancies us - but what do we offer? WE don't own the ground, have a small following and a fan base (like many others) that does not accept any sort of failure or allow learning time for new owners. I am really enjoying the football this year and hope I am proved wrong but there is life outside of the football league and we may well see it sooner than we would like.
Just enjoyed listening to the after match interview of SL by Gary Smith on BBC radio, hadn’t heard it till now.
I read in to one comment by SL in particular as a coded message to his wagmi employers- “I only have one recognised forward”. He repeated that comment twice.
He was also massively bullish about his own and his players abilities whilst being realistic about our progress this season thus far.
Also said:
1- “if we get one more victory this season we overtake our total number of victories for the whole of last season”. 2- “there won’t be any other manager in the league doing what I do or working harder than I do”. 3- “this team and these players will be up there at the end of the season I’m telling you now”.
I know I always sound like I’m SL’s agent from my previous comments on this forum but I just think we have the right man at the right time for our club.
Even though we are permitted to moan (and I do) let’s keep believing this guy and keep the faith as they say.

He’s the one to take us forward there’s no doubt. The doubt lies in our owners. I hope they organise a fans forum and an actual in person one.

Purely on attendance figures we are the 94th best supported team in the pyramid system and only a few hundred from being in the top 90, and this is from a team which is relatively new to league football and has a lot of premier league clubs nearby. I think we have as much right to be a League club as any other club at our level.
Disappointing to concede so early, the second one is understandable, chasing the game, two players down, hit on the counter.
However in terms of a performance our play was very good against an inform MK side, it was just the final part of the jigsaw putting the ball in the goal. There is no way on earth we deserved to lose that 2-0 but the footballing gods didn’t shine on us.
We are what we are in terms of a squad put together with a limited budget, picking up players from non league or players that maybe haven’t quite fitted in at their previous clubs. You can see we do have an identity to how we play and some days we will play brilliant football but our lack of experience on other days will hurt us. If we had one or two more proven players with game experience at the levels or above I think we would be comfortably sat in the play offs.
Sadly I just don’t think the owners have the money to really back the team so we are what we are and there has been a definite improvement on where we were last season. I certainly don’t think we will be in a relegations battle this season, I think we will finish somewhere around mid table

Not sure what that would achieve Gbred, a lot of discontented fans having a moan. Might get it off your chest but wont do any good. I find it hard to believe it was only a short time ago when Preston was exceeding every bodies expectations with his openness and willingness to mix only to have it rammed down his throat shortly after. If I were him, I'd sell up like a shot if I could find a mug to take us on.
