Great we got the win we needed but we still like to keep passing back and then pratting about with it back and forward across the defence. Several times the new boy Kelly was free and looking for a pass so he could get down the wing but what did we do pass it across the midfield or defence. No one was looking for an attaching pass just a lets get the stats up pass. There were times when it got very boring watching it keep going back and as for playing our wingers out of position yes it was worth trying but now change back because it is clearly not working. I just hope Tuesday night we play to our strength's with players playing in their best and most effective positions and that we look for forward attacking passes.
Completely agree trev, I was trying to contain myself from shouting at them to look at the space J Kelly and Gordon had in multiple passages of play.
In my opinion what may hinder some of the “forward passes” mentioned is playing only one up front as let’s be honest Orsi isn’t a target man is he, he’s a box poacher, not someone who’s holds it up, or flicks it on or even creates his own goals out of nothing, he is a penalty area poacher, with Saturdays first goal his trademark. That’s not me knocking him by the way, his goal return is good, but with only one up front playing forwards is possibly not that easy unless more bodies are in forward attacking positions quicker
Yes. And that's the problem. SL's tactics, and style of play. It's turgid, it's negative, it's obsessed with possession and passing. It's really not very attacking. The players aren't doing this off their own bat, they're being coached this way. Why? Earlier in the season we looked good, we had an attacking threat. Now we are playing a form of Betsyball and it's painful to watch. The players can't string two passes together, always giving the ball away to an opponent. They're so good at getting rid of possession they could work for the Vatican.

I wonder how much WAGMI have influenced the Betsyball style of boredom?

I think they obviously have input into who we buy but I think Scott owns this totally and hopefully at some stage he will see the light

Bit like Gbred - I was sitting close to where Gordon had gone on a forward run in loads of space. When he saw the ball go sideways the look on his face was a picture! Trouble is, after a while if they don't get the service they will probably stop making the runs.
Whatever changes have been made recently, we have been conceding fewer goals. I don't know that's partly about playing Tsaroulla on the right and having a more defensive-minded player (Conroy) on the left. Talking of which, Conroy did seem to concede possession a fair bit but maybe he was no worse than anyone else but I noticed it more because I was standing near our left defensive area in the first half.

Yes only 2 goals conceded in 3 games, which is unheard of for this defence. Long may it continue!
