Yes, the few times I’ve heard/seen Robert Smith talk about Crawley, it’s been pretty uncomplimentary.
That's par for the course, though. Slagging off the town is normal. But if an outsider does it, it's as if they punch your sibling. Outsiders aren't allowed to do it. In some ways Crawley has improved over the years, but become worse in others. At least it's no longer an artistic wasteland.
