Crawley Observer are reporting a press conference held by the club today, strangely there is no CTFC comment on either the website or twitter regarding it so either the club are a bit behind on their PR or the Observer has been at the pill cupboard
Selim Gayusuz is reported as saying that he is "hoping the club can make two more signings over the summer" and that ".....he hopes for the club to be able to make an announcement of a fourth new player", "We cannot announce who they are because of competition, if everything comes off there could be some news to announce next week"
Quite what this all means I'm sure I don't know, only two signings to be made before the new season? all seven out of contract players have signed new contracts? no triallists to be looked at during the pre-season? or maybe the statement hasn't been worded very well?

We must either be certain favourites for relegation or Dermot Dummy was even more sh1t than we saw and Harry will transform a bunch of overpaud lazy misfits into the most amazing promotion party weve seen since tge great Steve Evans showed us how its done. Did someone say...Hurry up Harry. Lets hope its not another sham in 69.... i mean in 2018
Crawley Town director of football Selim Gaygusuz is hoping the club can make two more new signings over the summer.
If all goes to plan he hopes for the club to be able to make an announcement of a fourth new player in seven days. This follows a busy summer so far with three new signings already completed in Dannie Bulman, Moussa Sanoh and Panutche Camara. He said: “We are working on bringing in a couple more players at the moment. “We cannot announce who they are because of competition. “If everything comes off there could be some news to announce next week!”
Gaygusuz is happy with the three new signings the club has made so far over the summer. He said: “Dannie Bulman is a world class pro’, someone who runs thousands of kilometres from box to box. I was really pleased as we faced competition from another club to sign him, but he chose us. “He loves the club and wants to be part of our success and importantly is a player who has won the league before. “Dannie knows exactly how to work, how to eat and is a motivator in the changing room.
“Moussa Sanoh played in the Dutch Championship, the same league as Enzio Boldewijn. “He can play in four positions: left wing, right wing, number 10 or striker. “He played for Holland under-18s and 19s and in the Youth Champions League for PSV Eindhoven. “We were watching him for the last four months - I think he will step up and will play at a higher level. “He came to London, met us and spoke to Enzio who recommended it highly as a family club and he loves the club.
“Panutche Camara (from Dulwich Hamlet) is only 20 and is a back-to-back attacking midfielder. “He is a very young, up and coming attacking talent who we believe will add a lot to the squad.” Gaygusuz is keen anyone coming to Crawley has a good character and attitude and wants to play hard for the shirt. He said: “We don’t want players who are only looking to play for 60 minutes. “We want players who want to give 110 percent and want to play for 90 minutes plus stoppage-time. People who want to play for the shirt. “We want someone with a great passion. “I don’t care where we we are in December, but where we finish after the 46th game!”
Well it is the Obby so I would take it all with a pinch of salt but I must say if true I find it all a bit worrying. Dannie Bulman at 38 is a world class pro who runs thousands of kms?? Much as I like Dannie, if he is our main signing of the summer I am very disappointed.
And if we are looking at only 2 more signings then we are presumably not serious about a promotion challenge as the rest of the squad are not good enough.
I do hope the current owners know what they are getting into here.
Does seem a bit worrying and seems to indicate the players we signed last year are on significant wages and restricting our ability to expand.
That said though, keeping Collins is the equivalent of signing 1 or 2 good players for me. And on paper A lot of the others are reasonable players that probably could mount a play off challenge if they all max their potential.
Shame that we are not looking to clear out more of our dead wood but I also think over the last couple of seasons we have been victim to changing the whole squad and manager every summer and starting from page 1 again. A bit of stability won't hurt us and we know the potential is there with a lot of the current lot, moreso than players we've had in recent memory.

2 more signings!, lets hope they are full backs. Bully is strong defensively and will stop them going straight through the midfield but we need a left back and although I think Young can do a job the right back position could do with strengthening. Otherwise we will be in the same boat as last year.

It's a fair point but I think we had a great opportunity to keep the best 9/10 players from last season and add to that. I think that is what DD would have done.
We need another forward for sure. Collins will be more of a marked man this season and in the even of an injury or suspension we are really stuffed now Murphy is gone.
I wonder who is actually signing players right now, as none of the interviews I have seen with HK suggest he has any involvement in this area.

With Pre Season not starting until Tuesday I assumed that was because HK was still on hols until then or on one of his many other commitments meaning he wasnt in a position to make any press statements? Are players like Arthur and Clifford still with us? Does Selim have a background in the scouting/coaching side or is he just thrust into a role he wasnt geared up for (bearing in mind I thought he came in as Marketing or Sales)?
The "busy" summer made me laugh as well, almost as if he believes that or was that the Observer just paraphrasing? Maybe we should re-evaluate the new signings then as I had just assumed that yes Danny Bulman is first team but that the other two were reasonable prospects over the medium term and were likely to be played in U-23 games (or has that now been ditched?). That meant we were still several proper league quality players short of a decent squad?
I think he recognised it was all a bit quiet and took an opportunity to talk it up a bit... fair enough.. but there are still more questions than answers and it doesn't serve to close the gap between fans and the new management... I would recommend a more informal meet & greet event to generate a stronger feeling of togetherness.

I agree and I still think it would have been worth sticking with Drummy for another year for the simple fact that he would have built quite effectively on the foundation of the squad, which was actually had potential on paper.
Ultimately Crawley fans' impatience has a big part to play in all this. You can't demand the sacking of the manager season after season and then moan when we don't have a seamless pre-season every summer...
A bit of a nothing press conference really, just basically repeating stuff we've heard before about new signings just for the sake of a press conference really because nothing much is going on at the moment. All a bit pointless really.

There was no press conference on Saturday. The story is what was in Wednesday's paper.

From the club information point of view that's even more of a sorry situation than I thought then, the club cannot be bothered to even mention that a press conference had been held on either their twitter account or the club website

I didn't think there was any press conference. Just a statement/update from Selim which got reported in the Obby, and maybe elsewhere. Considering there's not much happening, an update from the club is welcome. Definitely preferable to the wall of silence/apathy we had from the previous regime.

I have to totally disagree with you, It's the Observer that reported it as a press conference, nobody else, as for your comment about a club update, well they haven't mentioned it in anyway whatsoever so it would seem that the silence/apathy wall is still very firmly in place
