If he wants a career in football this could be his last chance so it will be interesting to see how well he does. Maybe he thought being at Cardiff was going to provide him with a good living but hopefully now knows that hard work is required.
im ok with this BUT giving a former rejected player a 18 month deal is crazy
He wasn't rejected - he was here on loan and went back to his parent club.
rejected by club just left.
Who are, for the moment, a Premier League club - slight difference in standard. The trouble with contracts is that giving a long one to a player who doesn't hit it off is a bad move... as is giving a short one to a player who is a success but can then walk away without the club getting any benefit. Even the best managers get it wrong sometimes.

Not just young players either. look at Lee Barnard, played for the likes of Spurs, Southampton amongst others & on paper looked like he should be banging in goals for us... turned out to be one of the biggest waste of space to ever wear a Crawley Town shirt...!
With German on trial at Welling our forward signings from January window weren't exactly a roaring success.
Fair point, but if we are on the subject of forwards who haven't clicked then the spotlight should be on Poleon... Unlike those mentioned, he played at a higher level & is likely on a pretty decent wage.
It really is about time he started to deliver a return on our investment... or cleared off...!

When the fans of his former club came on here in their droves the alarm bells were ringing then. They were proved right . Maybe clubs should ask fans of the previous clubs of the players they want to sign.....just might be a more reliable reference than the ones we obviously get given.

The Crawley Observer seem to think that Poleon has gone AWOL, in my opinion that's the best possible thing that could happen, stop his pay, cancel his contract and get shot of him, the likelihood is that nobody would take him off of us so just dump him so that we don't have to pay anything else on his contract
As far as the other two go, Meite the club knew all about so was he just a panic signing or is he not prepared to put the effort in, as far as German is concerned what opportunities has he had, unless training is showing that he won't stand a chance of making it I find it strange to get rid of him so quickly, isn't he the sort of player that this invisible U23 team of ours is supposed to be about? Send him out on loan as we did with Allarakhia and if he can't make the grade at NL level then move him on

Usually I’m skeptical of paper talk, but it would make sense that Poleon’s gone AWOL. He does seem to have an attitude problem and he has been mysteriously absent from the pre season matches. I agree with the above that he could actually be doing us a favour by giving us a reason to cancel his contract so we can use his wages on someone else.
Meite and Bloomfield could be a really good strike force. I wont be surprised if Palmer is no longer an automatic start. What seems to be happening is a squad being strengthened in depth creating healthy competition. The area hopefully incomplete as far as the kick off at Carlisle is concerned is our defence. As for Meite I think we have yet to see the best from him.
Poleon has been seen at training all throughout pre season so not sure what the confusion is about? Would seem as though he is out of favour and we are unable to shift him out/ he is happy to sit on the very decent contract offered to him by our stupendous hierarchy..
I heard he has been at Bury on trial for nearly 2 weeks so I think there is some truth in the Obby article even if they havent got all the facts
