I think you missed the point Jim, if i didn't know i was apart of it until last year how many others didn't / don't know they get free membership? it has nothing to do with having my head in the sand at no point did i get anything from the CTSA when i got my first, second, third etc etc season tickets that is something the CTSA failed to engage me with.
Once i got a season ticket there should have been a welcome letter from the CTSA telling me what they do what i get being apart of this alliance well that didn't happen. Was it the club failing to pass on a list to the CTSA? was it the CTSA failing to act on a list if neither of those why did the CTSA not ask for a list to contact members or ask the club to do it on their behalf? That's Just one of the failings of the CTSA.
Now you being an old school supporter probably followed one of the supporters clubs at the time so knew everything about what bought them together, some of us younger fans no nothing about those days.
After the attitude of the treasurer towards me on Twitter the fans rep thinking the board care more about the club than others why would anyone want to get involved in it?
I strongly believe if your going to push others to join it / get involved you really should be leading by example so i presume we can expect you now to apply to join the board can we?
Of course you are entitled to your opinion.
However when you make comments that the CTSA failed to do this, didn't do that, and should have done the other, please bear in mind that the CTSA is effectively 5 or 6 volunteers who give up as much personal time as they can.
For example you appear highly critical of Steve as Fan Rep, however why not offer him some assistance rather than running down one of our most loyal supporters who is struggling with ill health (BTW he probably beats your 10 years as a ST holder by a factor of 5). And remember that without the efforts of the CTSA 2 years ago there was no fan rep. And that we donated £8,000 to the club in return.
The CTSA does communicate via the forum, Twitter, Facebook, website and matchday programme so if you really didn't know about it after 10 years as a ST holder then I'm very surprised.
And re the money, remember it is a limited company regulated by the FCA, not some form of casual group. The names of the representatives have to be submitted to the regulator, and decisions taken in line with the company constitution. Of course a proposal to donate money could have been made and voted on at the AGM, but it wasnt. In fact as you appear so dissatisfied you and others could have voted to replace the elected representatives with people more of your liking. That is democracy after all.
As I have resigned as Treasurer it is largely academic to me, but I thought you might be interested in the facts.
