We have a relatively small squad and all cant play one system HK needs get best out of what he has. He is making clear statements to beung completely out of his depth managing has put games down to player mistakes taking no ownership himself. The simple fact so many fans and lets no forget fans from old forum that were very much on the give DD a chance are raising question marks over HK just shows how obvious and alarming his appointment and managing is. We will win some games draw a few but NOTHING to date gives a glimmer of hope beyond as wider with coffee mornings u23 teams and stupid post match interviews as sumone else pointed out right from when HK and his side kick were appointed communication has been dire. The gap between club and fan engagement is widenning......id like see that narrow.
We were hopeless yesterday - plaing too much football in our own area, the mifield was ,at best, lightweight and were we still playing now, we would not have scored. We tried ro pick a fight with their big guys and failed. Cheltenham had the best player on the park in Harry Pell - a big lump who used his height and weight well. Extremely disappointing performance, and worringly, HK seems to lack the nous to change things aroound, or inspire his team
By the time we play Morecombe away on the 7th October Kewell and Feeney will have had 15 matches to show what they're about. I'd expect to see a reasonable amount of points gained in the league along with a settled starting 11 with a clear objective in the way he sets the team out.
I think that's a very reasonable way to think about it. You can't possibly begin to judge a manager or a set of players until that sort of time frame. People calling for Kewell's head after two League games is just utterly embarrassing in my book...

Well I went to Cheltenham and thought that the team played OK. Very little difference between the two teams, just the couple of seconds it took for their goal. Crawley created plenty of half chances which could easily have gone in.
I was there too - I think we both saw a different game !!!
The Cheltenham goalkeeper wasn't tested - we still seem very frightened to have a shot at goal.

I was also there. Their keeper making several saves is questionable. Randall had a tame shot that was never going to beat him, and young had a shot that was going wide anyway. Better to watch the highlights than go on the BBC report as they have to write something about a pretty non eventful game. Kewell's summary that we had 13-14 chances is also questionable.
Whilst it's too early whether HK Is the right man or not, the signs aren't looking good.
It was pretty gutless from us in all honesty and Cheltenham saw the last ten minutes out comfortably.
With players rested in midweek, the pressure was on us to get something against a Cheltenham side who went into extra time against Oxford on the same night.
We looked okay for the first 15-20 minutes but aside from a ten minute spell in the second half, we were definitely second best.
Once again, I was pretty baffled with a Kewell lineup. Payne being shoehorned into a back three doesn't work - particularly with him at the heart of the trio. He takes too many risks for me and it just seems that because HK is top heavy in central midfield, he's attempting to convert Payne, despite the fact it'll cost us points.
No Cox on the bench was baffling as he offers more than Lewis - maybe Dean's unfortunate that he wasn't a Kewell signing and that Lewis is. McNerney injured? If not - and the same goes for Yorwerth - why put a centre midfielder at the back with two fit centre backs available?
No Sanoh, Cox, McNerney, Kaby, Garnett or Clifford in the squad though - maybe one or two will have to be moved out on loan rather than simply paying them to sit at home.
Another point is our playing it about at the back. We'll get found out before long and ultimately it doesn't work. We're too slow to play it about and it ultimately gets given back to Morris, who hoofs it upfield anyway. It feels a bit like de ja vu to this time last year under DD with the passing at the back, just without a 20-goal-a-season striker...
The positive was Camara's cameo again, but we're still crying out for creativity - a Gary Roberts type player - a nippy striker and a no nonsense Richard Wood sort of defender. Time is running out.
Another big game on Saturday. 1-0 down at half time again and we may see the crowd turn on Kewell already.

You've just hit the nail on the head, similar to my post on another thread. By knocking it around and then going back to keeper, all you've done is given the opposition a chance to have a breather and get their shape. Yorwerth, mcNernery and conns in a back 3 please. Cheltenham have won that match without getting out of 1st gear and last 10 mins ticked away without any pressure from us. They were 1-0 up and looking for first 3 points so were never going to push hard for the second.
