Here's some useful tips on attending matches at the moment at Crawley, with the most notable thing being that you do NOT need to show proof of vaccine status or negative test to enter.
Looking at average attendance figures and ground capacities this season I think Bradford's Valley Parade (where we play on 29th January) will be the only ground in League Two in which a Covid pass would be needed in order to get in. Of course as the situation changes things could be very different though
The situation with Covid is exploding again with the more transmittable variant and I’d understand if we went back behind closed doors for a month or two to get us through the worst of this spike. I enjoy watching Crawley too much to lead a voluntary charge on that though, I’d take precautions, drink in the cold outside Redz etc but take the calculated risks if the games remain on. You can see from this weekend’s fixture lists how bad the situation is
With so many testing positive Im mot sure many matches can still go ahead even behind closed doors. Villa v Burnley called off 2 hour before ko - what time are players tested and the results show up? Surely the PL must investigate that. Im thankful Crawley's match was called off early.
With so many football league matches called off. I was surprised to see that Covid had not struck many teams playing in the FA trophy. Only 3 games off.

As far as I’m aware there is no requirement for non league teams to get tested for covid. Hence why they aren’t getting postponed matches…

and because they are potentially not testing doesn't mean covid isn't spreading. I think football authorities seriously need to consider smaller competition formats next season. I say that on the basis of getting season's completed. You can always add on additional trophy matches perhaps starting on a small league basis, dare I say promote the tin pot trophy etc. if time and covid permits.
The football authorities may have to start imposing lockdowns and bubbles on teams if they want the season to finish, current rate of player infections are unsustainable you’d think. Clubs would have the freedom to not comply but would have to forfeit the chance to earn points if they don’t

That goes back to an argument I made a few weeks ago that there are simply too many competitions in football at the moment. I think next season we should just have the league and the FA Cup, as it's those two that really matter to be honest and I can do away with the League Cup just for one season (plus I don't need to explain my views on the EFL trophy as have already done that a couple of times)
But we all know this or a reduction in the number of fixtures in competitions that could do with them won't happen though because of how corrupt the people running football are

I guess the issue here is we shouldn’t have any of these peripheral competitions unless they provide revenue to the clubs. An interesting question would be do we lose money staging the Papa John’s games or do we get some kind of disbursement from the sponsorship together with the match tix revenue that puts them in the black for a club like Crawley? If we lost money staging them I’d be all in favour of binning them but I’d want to know that first. In the middle of a global pandemic you don’t turn away any revenue
I think because of the attendance figures we get for EFL trophy games I wouldn't be surprised if we make a loss from having them because you have to factor in matchday costs (such as temporary stewards etc). That's often the reason why clubs voluntarily close stands. So to be honest I don't think it would affect our revenue one bit if we pull out of it next year, which if that was to happen I would fully support that move

Yes the criteria has to be more than you being surprised though. What are the facts of the situation

Are you saying no European competitions either?
Apologies I forgot about them for a moment, yes I would keep those but ideally I would like it to be a straight knockout competition as the group stages can be tedious. But that won't happen though and the new format they are proposing for the Champions League is horrific
Although I don't mind the new Conference League though because it gives clubs from less wealthier leagues a better chance to have a longer run in European competition

i hadn't considered Euro competitions. I can't imagine they would be scrapped in any way.
No they definitely won't be scrapped as the UCL is UEFA's annual cash cow. Them scrapping it would be like the BBC ditching Strictly Come Dancing, it wouldn't happen mainly because of it's popularity
