At last, some good news for Old Skool Old Boys - although we always knew it - finally, some recognition that Subbuteo gives you a better grounding in football tactics than playing FIFA...!
I remember seeing an Outnumbered episode years ago where the dad tries to get the oldest son into Subbuteo by claiming it is more realistic than FIFA and being more about tactics. FIFA has gone massively downhill in the last 10 years in my opinion and I now think Football Manager is far superior on every level
To be fair, if any of the media guys are reading this, I reckon a good idea for a video would be to have two of the players taking each other on at Subbuteo, I would definitely watch that
Like many others I guess, we used to have a league with proper home and away matches at each other's houses. One thing though - at least you can't tread on your players in the computer version. It was a bit too easy to snap the little sods. A few of my players were glued together - the equivalent of going into a real world game with a serious injury crisis!

Typical conversation around that time: "Yeah, Bob's doing really well but he's still got to go to Willow Drive and get something"
The Basic teams came in blue or Red shirts. I painted mine in different colours. Norwich city, Oxford United and West Ham were my favourite strips. Goalkeepers always wore Green.
