It would be interesting to get a list of longest serving players.
My forward choice is Terry Robins, many have gone for Matt Tubbs but how long did they actually stay with the club?
Not questioning the ability of the players but can a one (and a half) season wonder really be the best choice for a hall of fame?
Jim Baker
Yes because there are some seasons you remember more than another dozen put together. Already I have no memory of some of our more recent League 2 seasons because they ran from the average to the mediocre. The seasons of overachievement are what gets the blood racing and hopes soaring
I’m not sure he’s by far the best manager we’ve ever had, he’s a worthy candidate along with Francis Vines. They both won a promotion, Vines in his first full season.
As did Evans in his first full season ........... with money !!
Very good!😀 Though he spent plenty in 2008/9 as well…difference was that we hadn’t got it.
Goalkeeper: Glen Morris Defender: Tony Vessey Midfield: Dannie Bulman Striker: Matt Tubbs Manager: Francis Vines
That’s not too far away from the ones I would choose although it’s very difficult trying to pick just one. You may not like this JB, but Maggs would have to be a good shout for the goalkeeping position, although I guess that his playing days were before your time. I also can’t help feeling that Dave Haining should be in there somewhere, given that during his long association with the club, he covered 4 out of the 5 positions (unless anyone can remember him going in goal) plus other roles like first aid man with the bucket and sponge etc.
No it’s quite alright, I’d heard he was a good keeper. Yes his playing days were before my time, so they don’t cloud my judgement🤭😉.
Goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin, well he is a Crawley legend as was Matt Harold Best go for Glen Morris. Defender. Between Joe Walsh or Kyle Mc Fadzean probably go for Kyle. Midfield Sergio Torres but Danny Bulman definitely a Crawley Legend. Striker Matt Tubbs Manager Steve Evans
Best moment away. Beating Hull in the FA cup. Winning away at Sheffield United was special as it was for Richie Barker who was a staunch Sheffield Wednesday supporter.
Best moment away for me without any hesitation is Tamworth. What a moment, ok in many ways it was a formality, but to be there supporting a team coming into the football league. Special. How many fans can say they have supported a team up from non-league?
