Chelsea going bust. Fantastic news I've always hated that smug Russian.
I feel sorry for all the populace in Russia and other parts of Eastern Europe, including Ukraine (when they obtained " independence ", the local corrupt officials sold off all their military hardware to african states and reduced the armed forces to a shambles, until NATO and the CIA stepped in for the last four years, with provocative covert training and rearmament ) where corruption and crooked dealings dominate life for ordinary citizens and make their lives a daily slog and misery
The owner and all his ilk share a sinister aura, you always feel moral repugnance at their overt flaunting of the ill- gotten material displays of their unlimited greed, so maybe, as you say, some little good can come out of the bad.
Thanks pees are we going all political now. I doubt it will make much difference in short term. Its not like the players cant afford to fill up their flash cars and drive themselves to away games. Worst comes to the worst. There are other professional football clubs in Kent, Devon and Yorkshire Chelsea fans.
I read somewhere they had around 28,000 season ticket holders which is roughly two thirds of the ground's capacity.
In the short term (as in from now until May) I doubt much will change in terms of the football operations as all of the players are still being paid their wages so I doubt they'd be legally able to cancel their contracts now. The big question really is wherever Chelsea will be able to find a buyer in the summer as that would enable things like buying and selling players, tickets and merchandise to be done again, but the club's finances would still be taking a huge hit right now as the wages would be coming out of its account without being able to generate any revenue at all.
If the situation is still not sorted by June then I think Chelsea could be in a really dire situation financially and wouldn't bet against them getting relegated next season or going into administration
Woah Les - I think you need be (very) careful about comments like this on a public forum.
Raise questions by all means, provide evidence if you have it but questioning the legality of [REMOVED BY ADMIN] affairs without evidence is very poor.
One of the things that we Brits are (great) at is enjoying failure and the fallout. We love a good failure. I'd far rather we look to the successes and not be so gleeful when things go wrong. I also think there are many Crawley supporters on the forum see Chelsea as their other club - but not me for clarity.

Good riddance to Chelsea bought they way to 'success', the owner is a smug **** and deserves all that's coming his way - good riddance I hope the club folds.
When we arrived in the league, there was a common perception that: Crawley bought their way to 'success'...
Abramovich originally got very close indeed to buying Tottenham, it was only when he saw Chelsea - with its associated collection of West London real estate - on the helicopter ride back to Battersea, that his curiosity was engaged.
Of course I understand the general air of schadenfreude about the current situation at Chelsea... HOWEVER... It is just far too easy & lazy to forget that Chelsea FC have a history that precedes the arrival of Abramovich. Most of the time they were an unremarkable outfit and went through a few periods when the future was highly uncertain. In their time, the likes of the Mears family & Ken Bates were controversial & unpopular owners too. The club had a golden period in the fifties when they were League Champions and most famously the "Kings Road Strollers" of the late sixties & early 70's, who combined wonderful skill with sheer brutality. But for most of its history, Chelsea has been a fairly typical football league club.
I've no particular like for Chelsea, but I've just got to feel for their supporters. Imagine if Turkey invaded a neighbouring nation and Crawley Town was placed in jeopardy because of it.

There was indeed and when that money stopped I was worried we would go crashing back down the divisions. Thankfully still pretty comfortably in the Football League and not really in any serious financial trouble from what I've heard
And yes of course Chelsea did have notable moments in their history before 2003, such as the infamous 1970 FA Cup final plus they had a pretty good team for a lot of the 90s with players like Zola, Di Matteo, Vialli etc. But there is no doubt that without the money Abramovich invested the club would not have achieved anything like the levels of success they've had over the last 20 years
