Crawley Town play at home against Rochdale in the 2021/22 EFL League 2, SATURDAY 26TH MARCH 15:00 kick off. Please keep all discussion about the match to this thread. Thank you and come on you Reds.
Open game so far. Plenty of chances with some sloppy defending and a few good saves from Morris keeping us ahead so far. We cannot gift so many chances to the opposition though.
FT 1-0 Crawley. We rode our luck today and a combination of some good saves from Morris and poor finishing from them meant we scraped a 1-0 win against a side that weren’t really much better or worse than us today and probably deserved at least a point. We’ll play better than that and lose. Supposedly these things even themselves out over the season, but it feels like we’ve been Rochdale more often than not, but hey ho, I said at the start of the season this team is good enough to win as many as we lose and that looks like what we’ll do give or take a few games either side. Another season of League 2 football secured and hopefully another top half finish. After 2 years of on and off lockdowns and working Saturdays for the last year I’m just pleased to see a game when I can these days so to win is always a bonus as well!
Yes a fortunate win as we were second best in the second half but we dug in defensively. Shows that 12th is realistically our ceiling. We are going to have to be much better at Salford than today, just no real guile in midfield and dare I say it they lacked Yems giving them a gee-up
Ref books a Reds player for time wastage that is mirrored at least dozen times every match. Riddiculous. Ahead of a Dale player drags a Red shirt virtually of the back of a Crawley player in the centre circle, ref plays advantage, first opportunity to caution the dirty northerner and the ref appears to have forgotten. Awful ref. Unconvincing win. I think Young struggled 'alone' today. I understand Yems has covid. Hope he makes a quicky recovery. All in all its 3 points. We move on.
It wasn't the most entertaining match at all but if we can win by playing that poorly I think that's an encouraging sign indeed. Nothing else to say apart from Nadesan got his reward for not giving up when having the opportunity to score

The referee was Trevor Kettle, who was dreadful when he was last at our place (vs Port Vale in October). He wasn't quite as awful today although that was likely because he didn't have many key decisions to make.
And yes unfortunately Yems does have COVID, as the club Twitter account said it just before the match. Hopefully it's not too bad and he'll be back soon

Just assumed Yems had been banned again. Hopefully he is back soon tearing into referees and giving the media lads a run for their money on the interviews!

Its about time we stopped making excuses and blaming the referees everttime something goes against us
Didn't think the ref had much to do today so in that respect can't have an opinion on whether he was good or bad... highlights of the game give the opinion that they were all over us and creating lots of chances but in reality I thought we were in control of most of the game but just created very little and we would and could have stepped up a gear if needed.we just seemed to want to be that bit more classy than them with that little special touch but nothing worked out , they wasn't that good..

BUT Mr Kettle had an awful game Its not every time from me. He was poor. Got in the way of players several times he was slow unresponsive often and as I highlighted he got the petty things but missed the bigger calls right under his nose.
