Scoreline didn't reflect the match imo. Sutton just took their chances and we could do everything last night but score. People saying it was the worst performance they've ever seen. I have seen worse 1 nil wins! However those 2 goals in the first 7 mins ruined it for us.
Felt for Youngy. When we was a player, he always looked the most deflated. After the match last night, he looked heart broken. I really want him to do well. Interesting to watch his post match interview where he was happy to take the blame for the result.
Atmosphere was class last night apart from the person who threw the coin and the person who tried to fight the Sutton players!!!

Yes I’ve read on Twitter that apparently it was the worst performance some people have ever seen🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Yes they were feral. And not helped by the stewards doing nothing about it and seeming more interested in the Crawley fans that were trying to point it out🤦♂️🤷♂️
Thankfully we wont be going down as if that was another handful or more games to play I would be very very very worried with Young in charge he is totally outta his dept.
Give it a rest, the man is a temporary fill in due to a completely unexpected situation

Don't they say that every time we lose?
It was undoubtedly a poor performance, possibly the worst I've seen this season, but not the worst ever. The two early goals in the first 10 minutes seemed to completely knock the stuffing out of us and we seemed to lose confidence and Sutton won a lot of 50/50 challenges that we would normally compete much better in. A real shame for the away fans, some of whom I imagine won't be regulars and went as a local away game, let's hope it doesn't put people off too much.
It was a poor game. Sutton have the distinct feel and appearance of a non league team and their robust tactics the same.
However our team selection made no sense. Against a team known for its size and directness we replaced an ever improving 6’5” Ludi with a 36 year old, 5’10” Tony who haven’t played football for 2 months. It showed.
Having gone with Tony we compounded the problem by also including Remi who also hasn’t played for two months and a Nadesan who’d been missing with illness for a few days when common sense says that would take it out of you physically. Archie was the obvious replacement at wing back for Tilley but even he has barely played.
It left us with a side lacking legs and fitness against a strong physical team in a local derby where they have a play off position at stake.
Overall we started lethargically and lacking any real mobility and losing Tilley left us with no one who could travel with the ball.
In my opinion Hess and George have played their best football as defenders and it left us with an entire midfield being basically a back four playing in midfield!!
George was actually our best player on the night but the combination of him and Hess in midfield leaves us predictable and one dimensional.
Up front, Remi was always going to struggle and for Nadesan to be left to drift into wide positions, was a waste of his real attributes and he ended up too deep and isolated.
We just seem to end up trying to compete with these types of sides by going toe to toe with them and trying to out long ball them!! Its pointless as they are better equipped to do it and have the correct tools. Then people are surprised when we play better against better sides, generally those that actually try and play football….Swindon, Forest Green, Newport for example!!!
Lewis said he got it wrong and maybe he did. I just don’t understand with 12th almost certain and nothing to play for, why he hasn’t come into the hot seat with 3/4 games left and said, okay I’m going to have a go at entertaining the fans, putting my own stamp on the team and have a go at being technically better than the opposition and passing the ball. We have the players to do it!!
I’d have changed formation and gone with a back 4 of Davies / Tunni / Ludi / Lynch. A midfield 2 of Francombe and Hess, Ferry and Hutch wide and Nicholls playing deeper off of Nadesan. It’s far more flexible. But I feel that Lewis felt stuck with the 343 and had to select the players to fit that. The subs were like for like and it never gave Sutton a different problem to solve.
That is a very good summary Rougediable. Playing Remi as a target man and keep sending high balls up to him was never going to work. He was constantly being shoved about by big centre half. We had more success when we tried to keep the ball on the ground. With 2 games left it is time to try some new ideas. Passing football and try to entertain.

I thought playing Tony Craig instead of Ludwig was very questionable tbh, Ludwig is much more suited to defending against the type of football Sutton play and Tony is probably still not fully fit yet

At least Lewis Young was able to accept responsibility for the result, answer the questions well and give his feelings about the officials without saying something daft, which I found refreshing to be honest. Feel sorry for him really as I doubt he'd have thought his first two months of being an assistant manager would have ended up quite like this.
Also I'd quite like to see Taylor Seymour feature in goal either at the weekend or at Oldham, just to find out if he has potential
