The issue is trolls disrupt discussion, around 90% of the posts on this thread instead of talking about the actual very interesting draw are responses to obvious provocation. For example, a good test of whether someone is actually on the level and making a genuine point is by going back to before Tuesday's result to see if the argument was being made then that the cup was unimportant and a meaningless fixture. What a surprise, it wasn't. That argument was only made after we had the great win. It's very wooden trolling and not for the first time.

What’s the best way to deal with provocation? Like I say I’m sure most people can handle this level of so called provocation. The trolling works both ways in that every post this user makes whether positive or negative, seems to get a flood of responses which is why the conversation goes off topic. If someone is trying to get a reaction what do you guys give him? I don’t agree with most of your views Steve so just gloss over them and you post a LOT more than most, so what who cares. It’s his opinion and we live in a land of free speech, don’t like it don’t read it simples.

I want the Reds to do well in the League & Fa Cup this season. I am quite within my rights to say I want the Reds out of the EFL Cup & Papa Johns ASAP.
Most Fans with any knowledge of football will know that prolonged involvement in these 2 Comps affects the outcome in the League & FAC.
If you guys want the Fulham Game & Many More Games against Premier Opposition this season, then thats fine with me, but just remember I told you so, when the A Team Players FADE at the End of the Season in the Comps that Matter.

Some good points here especially as we have faded towards the end of the season, certainly the last few years. I definitely agree with you regarding papa johns, but I don’t mind a caraboa cup run as it’s normally only a few extra games and our best chance of playing premiership opponents. I actually think Betsy was thinking along the same lines as you. Last league game 7 Betsy signings started, yet only 3 for Bristol. Also but less tippy tappy. Which way does he go for the next game? Does he stick more to his own principles and signings or go a bit yemsy on us?
If posts are not personally abusive or offensive but represent difference of opinion, that is healthy for the forum but we all have to understand that this a public forum and families and youngsters may read what is posted here and it is all our responsibility (not just admin) to make sure the content is appropriate.
If you get angered by another user's posts, it is usually better to take some time to consider your thoughts rather than rush an ill-thought out response in haste and anger.
Hopefully we get a sold out stadium for this. It's a no-lose situation for the club as if we win it would be fantastic, lose and the club will have still made a lot of money from it. The last two times we've played the Championship holders have gone very well, so I am hopeful about this...
After the performances in the first 2 games of the season, Betsy needed a game to try out some new ideas and give game time to previously unused players. What better opportunity than against higher level opposition in a competitive cup game. Our players put on a far better performance than many expected. It has given us a massif confidence booster before Harrogate. A packed Broadfield stadium for the Fulham game and a good performance will give the team and manager a huge boost. It has also given supporters something to look forward to.
Whilst I’m normally not too bothered about this particular cup, with so many additions to the squad over the summer, the more competitive matches they have early in the season, the more likely they are to gel sooner. Having a formal ‘B Squad’ this year is an improvement over the occasional friendly cobbled together at short notice last season.
Whether its a 1st team, B team or somewhere in between that plays against Fulham, the revenue will be welcome I’m sure and I always want to progress through to the next round… until we lose, then like Joey Barton, I can’t be bothered with the cup and its just a distraction from the league.
I hope Betsy plays Crawley 'B' against Fulham 'B'. Then all is well! Do not get dragged in to playing 'A' players please.
Lots of different opinion on who 'A team players are - Craig played a bllnder on Tuesday for example - not sure if you saw it but if you were there I'm sure you would agree

Fairish point but many teams have succeeded in more than one comp and the goodwill factor arising from the cup victories provides players with confidence. With squad we have we can more than cope
I may be unpopular here, but whilst I acknowledge its extremely unlikely to 'impossible', I want Crawley Town go win every game and every cup competition we enter.

Oh absolutely. I can guarantee if we’d lost, the same people would’ve been all over it and demanding the manager is sacked.

I have quite a bit of knowledge on football, and I don’t really think that winning a couple of cup ties in August is going to cause us to fade in April. Indeed, when were we ever still in the FA Cup at the end of the season…?🤔
Plus, who are we in only our 12th appearance in a competition that is virtually always won by top-flight clubs to consider it as unimportant and beneath us?🤷♂️🤦♂️
