GH Away Travel to Burnley - Carabao Cup 3rd Round - update

BURNLEY v CRAWLEY TOWN – CARABAO EFL LEAGUE CUP 3RD ROUND - TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS – 2 OPTIONS - ALL WILL BE CONFIRMED ONCE WE HAVE THE DATE AND TIME OF KICK OFF. 

As you will all be aware we have been drawn away to Burnley in the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup – we will organise a coach to the game for a there and back trip – we are also looking into doing an overnight stop but this will be limited to 15 people as we are going to use the minibus for this option as we have in the past for evening away matches.

For the coach trip which we have 25 supporters already booked on waiting final details – for this trip we will again be using Turbostyle Coaches as Premier are away on tour – the coach will have toilet facilities and charging points for your mobiles etc. Cost will be £40.00 for the “there and back” journey, departing from the Broadfield Stadium at midday. If you are interested in this option then please let me know and we will start booking you on.

We will stop at the M6 toll services for a comfort/coffee break and then we may stop at the Kilton Inn for a drink but no buffet, as this will depend on the traffic situation on the day. For the return journey again we will stop at the M6 Toll services but would suggest that you bring drink and food as there are limited outlets open at that time of night. It’s going to be another long days travelling like Carlisle and we won’t be back in Crawley until the early hours on Wednesday morning.

For the overnight option – we are still working out the details for this option and as soon as we know the date of the game we will get things finalised - if you are interested in this then please let us know and we will put your names down - it will be in the region of £100 - which will include Travel and Hotel.

Once all the match arrangements are confirmed we will then start taking payments – we will be in Redz at all the home matches. We need to know by the end of September for the overnight option and please confirm your booking with a £30.00 deposit for the overnight trip.

We will update numbers  - once this coach is full we may depending on numbers add a second coach but then it comes down to availability and finances. 

REMEMBER NO ALCOHOL 0R SMOKING ETC. ON ANY OF OUR COACHES.
 Unfortunately, for many, the cost of travel is not possible for many fans -  this is not knocking the fantastic job Alain and team do but stating a fact - £40 is a lot to find and especially after a few games already at that price -  difficult to see how the fans who go can sustain this sort of cost?

Hi Westander - Just to pick up on your point about we have already had a few games at £40.00 - we have had one - at Carlisle United on the opening game of the season where we would have normally had an overnight stop - all the other games have been £30 which is a lot cheaper than what other clubs are charging for the same sort of distance or less - Brighton to Liverpool is £56.00, Stevenage to Salford £35. Leyton Orient to Rochdale £42 - Every game so far this season we have not covered the coach costs and we have no local games except Colchester before Christmas that would usually cover any short fall in these loss making trips.

For this midweek trip to Burnley we have tried to keep costs as low as possible but it’s with a different coach company as Premier are away on tour that week and their charges are higher than expected but we understand why that is - we have got quotes from other companies that were even higher - we are taking a risk that we will at least break even but it’s not guaranteed but we will run the coach to the game.

We have now 31 on board for Burnley but this is well short on numbers to break even -

We are very appreciative of everyone who travel with us and we know we are all going through difficult times financially but we will endeavour to maintain our away travel throughout the season following our Red Devil’s.
