There are a lot of statistcians and sports betting people involved with wagmi. If you think a bit of bad press will stop them sacking someone you need to think again. The thing that might give them pause is the cost involved in paying the management team up.
Just seen the clips on youtube. Our goal was top notch teamwork. Their penalty award was a disgrace and the ref should be demoted to park football if they'll have him. Their final goal was an embarrassment. Awards like that penalty do change games if they leave you having to play catch up, but that's only a contributory factor as to why we lost.
That last goal was embarrassing full stop! Thought Betsy sounded unconvincing in his interview....almost like he was going through the motions. Shame as he seems a decent guy but it's not working and he knows it.

We have enough decent players to do a lot better than this, but we need to recruit some steel. I seem to be more patient than most, but if we are in a similar position at Christmas another manager is definitely an option. If we start on a losing run, it may need to be sooner. Relegation is bad any time, but for us it could be existential.
Refs usually don’t give those in my decades of watching the game. It’s really an accepted thing that teams have to work hard for penalties, it was a gift from the ref, an old fashioned homer
The handball rule was clarified this season....
I dunno what’s happening at Burgess Hill but not seen a pen like that at the Broadfield this season despite numerous ball to arm incidents

Tho I’m happy to give the manager backing for now, this pretty much sums up my view and I reckon the owners would be somewhere along these lines too

Jim Baker
Definitely don’t think a bad press will stop them Jim, agree on that. Agree also on cost. But basically the main thing is I just think they themselves will want to give Betsy time to develop and they’ll take a bit of heat from fans if need be. Could be wrong tho let’s see
The longer Betsy is given the further down the line you completely write off this season AND risk the unthinkable (relegation battle), flipside is he comes good eventually. The danger of relegation is very very very worrying. We cannot look at just points to be played for, we have to look at whats on the table and it doesn't look good at all. The club say they are all stats etc well have a look at past seasons after 10 games where teams are and again at the end of the season. The table doesnt change that much. Its a gamble whatever you do and we have no guarantees but what is certain is what's happenned in the opening 10 games. Betsy appears to have built his squad around tippy tappy football but then sort of abandoned it largely. Im not even sure he believes in himself. Defensively we never looked comfortable against Doncaster. Huge worry.

I thought we looked pretty comfortable defensively up until the ref decided to make it a handicap game. Craig and Tsaroulla maybe not always the most perfect partnership on the left hand side. One for Betsy to ponder
When you listen to the owners podcasts you realise how deep we are in it. We are set up so defensively, yet we still have the joint worst defensive record in the league. Yet listen to Wagmi and defensively we are sound just need to tweak things offensively! They also say we have gone long due to injuries of Balcombe and couple of central defenders who were capable of playing out. I guess as soon as they are back, we can enjoy tippy tappy again.

So I’m guessing this is you saying Betsy’s job is safe (for a while at least)?

So that's handball under the current rules if he has stuck his arm out and made his body bigger.

My point was the FA guidance on handball was changed this season so your decades of experience are not relevant. Just like when I started watching football in the 1970s you could kick players off the park without a yellow card but that isn't relevant now either.
If you stick your arm out, make your body bigger and prevent the cross there is a high risk that a penalty will be given whether its Crawley, Burgess Hill or Pease Pottage reserves. Even Betsy got that in his post match interview.
Sorry. I am using these page as a place to get my anger out.
THE REFEREE GIVING LOTS OF FREE KICKS, BLOWING THE WHISTLE FOR EVERYTHING, EVEN THE PENALTIES SHOULD NOT BE THE EXCUSE WHY WE HAVE LOST. IF WE WERE ANY GOOD, REFEREE'S DECISIONS SHOULD NOT AFFECT US WINNING/LOSING.
