Dunno about a lot of money John, none of them were really big players who went on to do a huge amount in the game and Simon W's best days were a bit behind him. Few would be kept by Evans when the actual money did arrive. We can only speculate as to the finances of the time but we know as facts that whatever sums/possible budgetary laxness was involved didn't lead to one of our too-many administrations and certainly didn't deter the investors/owners who arrived under Evans.
They wouldn’t have relocated from Halifax for a pittance, and Steve Fletcher was reckoned to be on £2k a week and Jamie Cook would have gone back to Oxford a year earlier than he did if we hadn’t paid him a decent wage. True it didn’t lead to administration, but let’s face it, Prospect Estate Holdings didn’t have any money, they were a “holding company” set up on the day they “bought” the club, and when Bruce Winfield announced Project Promotion in 2010, he said he and Sue Carter had cleared £1m of debt…debt run up in 2008/9.
That’s not a proof of massive overspend, it’s proof of owners who had no money. And given who we had before Prospect, I’d say we should be happy for the fact that they did take control of the club (are you saying the Majeeds left the club debt-free? Not quite clear what you are arguing with that bit) and made a good choice of passing it on to excellent owners
Our choice of managers is poor and extremely limited due to
1) Any experienced manager (like Holloway for example) wouldn't touch us if Wagmi were still relying on their entrepreneurial approach (an approach I fully support). If they do decide to come its either just for the money or they are desperate to get another chance having failed elsewhere.
2) Another inexperienced hire smacks of double or even treble standards as we had that with Kevin and Dan and couldn't manage to support the guys longer than a mere blink of an eye when things were not working.
I also disagree a manager's life is tough as they are one of the few people who get paid for failure and many make a career out of it and earn more failing than they ever could succeeding.
Back to the beautiful day outside while my positive mood remains!
*After the huge pig's ear he made of his last job (at Grimsby) I would be wary of giving Holloway another opportunity.*
The Holloway Grimsby scenario was down to a monetary fallout over shares

Lee Bradbury might be a good shout. Knows the club well and was part of a successful period with JY.
I'm not too sure to be honest, he hasn't set the world alight at Eastleigh. I wouldn't rule out Bradbury returning to the club in another role sometime in the future though
You could argue that Young has already had a few games to prove himself with a settled team who were comfortably midtable his record was Mansfield L2-0, Sutton L3-0, Orient L2-0, Oldham (already relegated) D3-3. No goals against league 2 teams. Don't want to be negative but Young does not full me with confidence as a permenant option.
Jeez we’ve had so many rotten decisions from refs, 4 match turning ones in the past 4 games, you’ve just reminded me of the Orient game and that one, truly incredible what should have been a 1-1 turned into a 2-0 purely by joke officials

Lets not start blaming the refs for our troubles!!
Looking at Alexander's record, it's not bad. Got promoted with Fleetwood. Sacked for poor start.Got to league one playoffs with Scunthorpe. Got sacked when club in 5th after a series of losses, 5th place!!! Achieved playoffs of National League and EFL trophy with Salford and got sacked with Salford in 5th in league 2 having made an UNBEATEN start to the season!!! Not much happened at Motherwell. Had success nearly everywhere, never relegated, experience over 4 leagues and only 51 so not too old school. Got to be a potential candidate surely?

I think we'd be lucky to have a manager with his track record. He would be my pick

Not much happened at Motherwell, apart from the sack. Did save them from relegation so that's a tick, then stagnated and lost to Irish part-timers. It's a solid career record overall

True but there was a lot happening around the club at the time eg Yems which I'm sure didn't help.

Funnily enough, there was a theory much mentioned on this forum last season that we were getting a lot of poor decisions from match referees because Yems was criticising them so vociferously, so they were getting their own back as some sort of cartel. I hugely doubted it at the time and I think this season with Betsy being as nice as pie on the touchline has gone to prove that League 2 refs are just constantly error prone and sadly for us in the past month, almost virtually one way.
