It appears that I was quite fortunate to miss the match due to falling asleep at home. I didn't feel much like it anyway. Hopefully the next match of my five-ticket voucher will be a bit more lively.

lucky you!
Sounds like I would have fallen asleep even if I'd gone to the game.
I predicted 6-0 victory I could not have been further away from the outcome had I tried! Perhaps not a bad thing we don't play for a bit longer with no match this coming Saturday and we can work on things on the training ground. We have two home games and we need wins, to create distance between us and the drop.
I thought that Gillingham defended very well. We were to slow when attacking and gave their defence plenty of time to organise . Thankfully Gillinghams strikers were awful. On another day it was a game we could have easily lost. Much work to be done on our 10 days off. Midfield must improve if we are to climb the table. Joel Lynch and Tony Craig playing his 700th game we’re both very good.
Have we gone mad? We were begging for points under Betsy and now we’ve got a point and were gutted we didn’t go on to get three points! Young still deserves the job. I don’t think Hasselbaink ( who they have lined up) will set the world alight for us. Quiet day at the office and yes it was boring but at the end of the day we’re another point away from the great escape. Also… A CLEAN SHEET. Well done to the back 4. We have missed Lynch massively. And Tony Craig on his milestone day topped it off with a clean sheet.

I sort of agree with that, but.........it was one of the worst games I've ever had the misfortune to watch, both teams were dreadful (Gillingham always are, but I expected much more from us), it was definitely the most boring game I can remember (hopefully I will forget it quickly), no goals, barely any shots.......to summarise: NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Just because Betsy has gone, it doesn't mean we should be happy with such godawful performances just because we didn't lose. We should have absolutely smashed Gillingham. We barely turned up.
I don’t know about thrashing Gillingham, a 1-0 or 2-0 win would have sufficed. We didn’t creat enough chances to win despite the majority of possession.

They had the best chances though, and though the moaning of their fans got on my nerves I think we did get the better of the ref's decisions this time. Looked like they had a strong penalty call in the second half - but we didn't have a great view.
I couldn't work out how we were supposed to be playing in the first half. Nichols and Telford looked lost. We seemed to have more structure with Tilley and Fellows on. Felt a bit sorry for Tsaroulla - a couple of decent runs, then he looked up and saw no-one to hit, so had to take a long range punt himself.
We have some decent players though, so hopefully working on the system can address some of this.

If the slow in attack included Tsaroulla, Alex made I thought a good observation in the game that George (not me though frustration I wanted to be on there smashing balls in!) on the other side was crossing the ball and Tsaroulla delayed this so percentage wise even if George or whoever crosses doesn't do a great job we can always for example get the second balls in and around their penalty box.
I thought the attendance figure was one of few pluses from last night. It wasn’t the best of nights to turn out and there was World Cup football on TV. Gillingham brought over 1,000 but even taking this into consideration, good home support I think
The mid field of Powell and Hessenthaler cost us the game they were to slow releasing the ball and Powell was always looking to play the Hollywood pass when some time a quicker pass would have been better. Hessenthaler was terrible as well last night every pass was backwards, he never created one good move forward. If we want to move up or out of this league, then we need to get two good midfielders. I thought Lynch and the 700-man Craig did an excellent job.
