I must be the only one who doesn't think Nichols leaving is the end of the world,he was at his best before the game was allowed to become more physical I don't he's been anywhere near the player this season that he was,I really feel Dom Telford could fill his roll much better.
We only have two fit strikers. Selling Nichols to a relegation rival is pure stupidity.

It does seem a strange one as Nico always seemed really happy here, it took him a while to find a club where he could thrive since his early promise at Exeter but he seemed to have that with us. My concern would be perhaps this was a stats-led decision, as his numbers don't necessarily reflect his overall usefulness. We don't know the full story, maybe he wanted out for other unknown reasons, but to sell him now and to a direct relegation rival, the only justification has to be that the fee is absolutely ginormous. I know he only had six months left on his deal but if we're at the point where we'd rather sell key players for a small fee to a rival rather than lose them on a free, maybe Wagmi don't have as much money as they suggest.

I wonder if off-loading his wages were a contributory factor?

Possibly, but again that raises all sorts of questions about whether our budget has grown as much as we have been told.

I'd even call it a turkey that's just voted for Christmas

Appalling piece of business. What the hell are WAGMI playing?!!
I get if a player wants to leave them let them go, but selling one of our best players to a direct relegation rival mid season is ridiculous!
Is the club that desperate for cash?
I don’t even think it makes sense in an economical sense, selling one of our best players to a relegation rival could relegated us which probably cost the club a lot more than £60K plus wages.
It’d probably have made more sense to keep Nichols intim his contract runs out and let him leave on a free.

We should be a bit more patient as M.E.has said more than once that there would be coming and goings in the transfer window, none of the current squad are his signings so maybe we should judge him after the transfer window.

Nobody's judging Etherington. If you're paying attention it's all directed at Wagmi and Galley.
I’ve spent the whole day trying to take stock of this. I’ve tried to think logically, tried to think outside the box, think in business terms that the club may well be looking at this differently to us. But my opinion 12 hours later is that I’m absolutely fvcking livid. Apologies for the language but [language that may offend removed], what the hell are we thinking here.
Can see us slipping out of the league, changing place with Gillingham currently. Protest is a strong word, and yeah, I know we have the January window to come, but if that window doesn’t produce, I will be at the front of the queue asking the questions. Disappointed doesn’t even start to explain how I feel currently.
TN: “When the club tells you are not going to play anymore and they have accepted an offer for you, I felt I had no other choice. My decision was made for me."
This is so horrible to read. The player wanted to play, the fans wanted him to play, he has been an excellent player with an exceptional record of achievement. Yes very strange and concerning. What next?

It's also just very weird that we decided not to play him for almost a whole month, during a period in which we are fighting relegation and had an injury crisis that led to the manager playing a centre back/left back in attack. I've heard of teams not risking a player who is on the move, but that's usually for one or maybe at a stretch, two games. Fair enough to do it say for the Stevenage game, but had it not been for the Tranmere game being called off, we would have happily not used a key player who was still contracted to us for what, five games? Absolutely insane.
