Good on Etherington and Davies if they were not going to be able to manage without the DOF poking his nose in and telling them what to do it takes guts to walk away. Then to tell them sorry there is now on money for new players but do your best with what you've got i dont blame them walking out question is do we have to pay them. Puts a new slant on the Nicholls transfer looks like the club were desperate for his transfer cash so much for NFT's.

Will refrain from blame until more information comes out as it could be simply that Etherington didn't have the guts to do the job once he realised it wouldn't be a walk in the park, his post-match interviews haven't exactly inspired, but at the same time if it is down to broken promises from Galley and the owners, fair play to him. The whole Nichols situation was a very bad start to things, he sounded as flabbergasted as anyone as to how that was handled.
To have taken so long to appoint him in the first place and for it to have gone this badly, and similar with Betsy, I think it's officially time to panic as those have been two disastrous appointments that appear to have been thoroughly considered.
Above all else, can we have some actual transparency please!!!!? Baffling things are going on at our football club and we as fans deserve to know what is happening.
The writing was on the wall the minute Etherington said “out of my hands” regarding Tom Nicholls on game day 1!! He didn’t sound happy about it and any other manager in that situation says the player “has a niggle” “a muscle injury” or “isn’t well”.
It was blatant finger pointing from day 1, when it was clear 99/100 teams are picking a fit Tom Nicholls in their first game.

To stop us being relegated. Get rid of Chris Galley and this money ball idea based on stats. Reappoint Lewis Young asap with Tony Craig as player assistant. Get back Morris and Apiah. Appoint Yems as head of player recruitment. He made is name at Bournemouth doing that job.
To me, with what’s been going on over the last 3 months, the problem seems to be Galley. He seems to have far far far too much say in who plays, meaning the manager (whichever one that is in any particular week) has one arm tied behind their back.
At least with Etherington in charge, he had a transfer window to make changes, but now we have no manager and just Galley to decide on who to move on and who to bring in - if there is any money available, which appears to be doubtful.

Top post. Probably the only chance we have to avoid relegation (or worse). But we both know Wagmi won't do any of that because they are clueless chancers (and broke according to the latest rumours)

Would John Yems or Lewis Young want to return to this Club all the time the gormless Yanks are in charge?
Looked at Twitter and saw Etherington trending, going to need some explaining to what is happening. At the moment we need stability and points, would look at Young being brought back.
I have been reading up on player statistics software. Some is now available that analysis when substitutions should be made and plots players positions to give the best scoring possibilities. I hope that we will not become the first club to pick the team by computer.
Unfortunately I can not see Lewis Young being attracted back to the club, but then I cannot see it being attractive to any manager unless we see ownership or structural changes to the club

Etherington is fondly remembered by Stoke City supporters for his time at the club. It was actually while viewing The Oatcake that I saw he'd been sacked. One contributor to the site has posted information which confirms, if true, some of the worst fears being expressed on here. The owners want to pick the team and wouldn't allow Etherington to select some players. The owners wanted a poll on the club website or on social media for fans to have a say on who plays in a match in January. Etherington had calls from lots of his contacts in the game who all said resign now so he did. The owners want to sell nine players next month and play the young players. All his players were calling him to get him to change his mind but having talked to Barry Fry and others in the game who all said "get out" he did just that.
Now random comments from random people on random message-boards should be taken with a very heavy pinch of salt. But I have spent/wasted years reading such messages and I think I can make a reasonable judgement on what is mischievous rubbish and what has an air of truth about it. This person's posts read like the latter to me.
