Not been on here for a long time but this shit show has prompted me to come out of forum retirement. I’ve said from day one this was all going to end very badly for our club, a club I’ve supported since our Dr Martin days and beyond. We have been a plaything for Wagmi, nothing more and nothing less, and they will disappear as quickly as they came. Has anyone connected them to the FTX fiasco in the US, where it seems anyone involved in cryptocurrency has lost money, some more than others? These chancers have gained control of our club, turned it into the laughing stock of the FL, and have now run out of money (if they had any real money in the first place?) and I predict they will be gone before the end of the season, leaving the club in a very precarious state, maybe even oblivion. I have nothing to back this up so don’t ask, just my opinion. But it’s an opinion from someone who loves this club (it was my Crawley St George’s flag that the directors of the club held aloft after the pitch invasion at Welling when we were finally promoted to the Conference) and I’m massively saddened by the current predicament after all the hard work of becoming a league club, and staying a league club. I would love to be proved wrong, but sadly I can’t see that happening anytime soon?
This would suggest to me there are two most likely scenarios;
1) Etherington and Davies have decided that they don't want the hassle of the job or it isn't what they are looking for
2) Etherington and Davies are not getting what was discussed/promised during the recruitment so have decided their positions are untenable and decided to jump ship accordingly
Given that there was a period of about 6 or 7 weeks between Betsy being sacked and them being appointed I would think that both parties would have had more then enough time to discuss expectation and requirements for the role etc. so I think scenario 2 is more likely, but I will await and see what answers if any we get from WAGMI.
Indeed Alex. I would say a bit of both plus:
3) We were not told that Chris Galley was picking the team using xG and Opta Stats.
Bradford dodged a bullet and so did Etherington & Davies.
One interesting aspect is whether they were fired or quit (I know its all dressed up in 'mutual agreement' clauses). Paid off Betsy a few months into a 2 year deal and now Etherington gone 32 days into an 18 month contract. Expensive mistakes by clueless owners.
And the worst thing is that WAGMI can't claim either time they appointed managers they were rushed or had to do it quickly, because they took ages to appoint both and both appointments didn't work out. I think if they appoint an inexperienced manager again we could hear some serious discontent at matches if things don't start going well, that's if we don't start seeing drops in crowd numbers with people getting fed up with the football on show.
On the Peterborough website the Peterborough Telegraph newspaper says M.E.resigned if true maybe his old position at Posh hasn't been filled and he could resume his old role.

I'm not sure there'll be a direct link with FTX as Wagmi have always said that the CTFC financing is cash $ rather than crypto holdings. However, indirectly it's quite possible that some of the individual investors could have taken a haircut which reduces their ability or apetite for continuing to invest.
When the FTX story broke I did have a quick look for news stories around Levin Soccer Holdings and Courtside Ventures which are the 2 VC companies listed on the Wagmi website because it seems likely that they will have provided a big chunk of the Wagmi funding but there was nothing immediately apparent. That said, the full list of FTX creditors is not yet available and even if they don't have direct exposure it's always possible that there is downstream exposure through the companies they have invested in and the creditors of those companies which would make drawing any explicit links with FTX virtually impossible.
If there is really some issue with funding (and I think this concern has come from the Nichols sale because I thought that Galley had indicated that there were funds to splash out in January) then it's more likely to be that the NFT market has been decimated and confidence in being able to secure new NFT income at the end of the season has taken a hit. Just to put this into context relating to CTFC, if we are optimistic and assume that the market stays at the current level and does not get any worse in 2023, then the total market for the year will be 980k NFT's with a total value of £168m which would suggest that it's going to be *ahem* challenging to match the figures from the Wagmi mint in 2022 of 10k tokens and £3m.
Where’s Steve? Missing his comments about how we are idiots for questioning Wagmi’s decisions! How we are idiots for questioning the summer signings? How we are idiots for questioning that running a football club based on stats is doomed to failure? Yes Steve you were right all along!!!!
Maybe not the time for point scoring (from us anyway!) I'd say that the Betsy supporters may well feel that his removal has orchestrated something far worse!
Unfortunately we’ve all had to endure months of Steve getting on his high horse whenever anything bad is said about Wagmi, Betsy, Galley etc. The problems were pretty obvious quite a while ago, and as fans we have a right to share those views without all the insults Steve likes to dish out. Once again despite his high almighty, know it all keyboard warrior persona it’s once again been proved Steve hasn’t got a clue! All those rumours Steve was so dismissive are looking pretty likely aren’t they?
Because he disagreed with you doesn't make him an accomplice. It has also been pointed out that aside from the football side of things (something they admit to knowing little about) most of wagmi's other changes have been, or will be, beneficial.
Things ain't looking good. They have gone quite. I am very apprehensive about the future but that's not Steve's fault.

Bang on. Everybody on this board (even the bantams and mackems) want to see CTFC come out of this situation in one piece. Having recently been through a terrible ownership saga at my club I've seen how it can divide the fans when all everyone wants is for the club to thrive.

Nobody is saying it's Steve's fault. Just that he blindly defends the club/Wagmi/Galley/Betsy (while he was here) against any and all criticism, however slight, and accuses anyone who speaks out of not being a proper fan. It's delusional at best.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, it's what this forum is for. However, Steve constantly tells people they're wrong because they have a differing opinion to his. That kind of attitude is boring, wrong and rubs a lot of us up the wrong way.
It's not a coincidence that since Galley and the owners have right royally f***ed up these past few days, Steve has gone quiet. It makes a pleasant change. No doubt he will read this and come screaming back now.

Blimey, all it takes for my opinions to finally be respected... is a few months of silence
For the sake of my own well-being I have kept a distance - yet however hard I try, I cannot help but share your hurt. And it all feels self-inflicted, lets not forget that the Bro's were "undertaking" due-diligence a year ago...(?)
Wagmi: I was hoping by now that they would have outgrown their initial "fake it till you make it" culture & left the spin-zone. The hype, distraction & blaming others approach stopped working a while back, it is now tiresome & unconvincing.
They must also be at a stage where their own brand is becoming toxic & they must be under pressure from within. Investors thrive on credibility, they don't want their peers laughing behind their backs.
Etherington: We were informed when he was hired that, "he is not averse to taking risks"... well, neither was Liz Truss (she lasted longer).
What next?: Lets hope that lessons have been learned. We urgently need some grown-ups onboard to break the cycle. Wagmi need a fully-thought out plan B... plus a damage-limitation exit strategy (just in case).
My genuine best wishes to Mr. "some kind of superstar" Byfield, the players & most of all you poor sods. Cross fingers for 2023.... erm... Dudes.

Thad is that a dig at Byfield? (he doesn't come across bighead to me far from it) good to hear from you though.

Not at all George. In fact, I am told by those who know him, that he is a very decent & level-headed character. It was actually a reference to a song by a former partner.
Ps. I have only recently seen Eben's waffle, wow, very strange: When (apparently) professional people, with a background & in-depth knowledge of analysis & market-making for investments involving marginal odds... ...resort to blaming "bad luck"... it stinks of desperation...!
Pps. Seriously, how can Wagmi be lecturing on loyalty... do they even know the meaning of the word...?
Our child-like owners clearly have no idea how small the world of professional football is in this country. Word gets around like wildfire among agents, players and managers when a club is toxic. The treatment of Young, Etherington and, now, Craig, Francombe and Hessenthaler will have ramifications for CTFC for a long time...
