I note Liam Kelly and Will Wright have both been booked four times, and are one booking from a one match suspension. Williams has already served a suspension for picking up 5 bookings. We also have the highest amount of bookings in the league along with FGR and Notts Co.

I thought Williams getting booked on 96 minutes was needless
Following yesterday's game we now have accumulated more bookings than any other team in L2 (58, next highest 54). It is also the third highest in the EFL, behind Wigan and Southampton.
We also have the player booked the most in L2, Jay Williams with 9 bookings. Again only 2 players in the whole EFL have been booked more than Jay. Liam Kelly has also been booked 7 times and Will Wright 6 times.
Despite this, yesterday's red card was the first of the season, and I don't think we are a dirty team, and our players seem to be booked for innocuous tackles and poor discipline. I think this is partly due to our inexperience, and a more experienced opposition knowing how to win free kicks, and make tackles look worse than they are/wind up certain players.
Hopefully we can improve as the season goes on, or we could have some costly two match suspensions coming up.
Agreed - we need to cut out the stupid bookings - arguing with the referee and getting wound up by the opposition is pointless. It’s good to have competitive and passionate players, but there’s a balance that’s needed. We do seem to have learnt not to kick the ball away after a yellow in the 1st game of the season though.

Thanks for analysis Sooty. Williams has been booked very late in a few games previous to yesterday and shows an immaturity that need Scott to sort out if we keep him. Our squad isnt strong enough to keep losing hiem through suspensions.
Jay Williams will now serve a 3 match suspension - 2 matches for reaching 10 yellow cards and one for the Red Card - both reached for the sending off against Mansfield.

Are you sure this is correct? Yellow cards are reset after 19 games

Looking at the EFL website they have him on 9 yellow cards (only counting one from Saturday), so I think it will be just a one match suspension. However, as soon as he is booked again, he will have to serve a separate two match suspension.
At 19 games, yellow cards continue to add up, you just don't serve a one match suspension for reaching 5 cards. If you have 10 yellow cards before 37 games you get a 2 match ban. If you reach 10 cards after 37 games, you don't serve a 2 match ban, but if you reach 15 cards before the end of the season you get a 3 match ban. If you get 20 cards before the end of the season, you win a visit to the FA to decide any further penalty! (See below)

Looking at the highlights, it looks like the second yellow was for his reaction to Quinn on the floor rather than dissent. Assume he felt he overreacted, and not caught but jumped. However, if he did in fact jumped, he would have been caught if not, so was a booking. Hopefully a three match ban will give him a time to reflect and book an anger management course!
