None of the opposition keepers I’ve seen this season have been any better than Addai in my opinion. The problem is, anyone much better is either going to cost a lot, or not going to be playing at League 2 level for long.
26 may not be very young, but in goal keeper term's he potentially has many playing years ahead of him and he’s still fairly inexperienced.
Well, Belshaw was voted man of the match when we lost at FGR earlier in the season and rightly so - he won them the game with several top drawer saves. I’ve seen him do the same thing against us when he played for Bristol Rovers too. Corey had an absolute mare that day and let his head drop, and I think that is the problem - he seems very much a confidence player. People screaming vile abuse at him from the stands doesn’t help but I still think he is the better of our two options at the moment. If he could do all the things people want him to do then he wouldn’t be playing for us in League 2. I still think he suffers from the unfortunate process of having to follow Morris but then again in his last couple of years Morris let in some howlers, his kicking wasn’t always great and, in my view, never dominated his area either. Just my opinion…
I think Morris was better in one on one situations and made a lot of good close range saves for us over the years.

I wouldn’t dispute that at all Alex and Morris rightly has a prominent place in our history in the EFL with some heroic performances. Because of that he tended to be immune from criticism when he did make mistakes and sometimes the sort of things which Corey gets slaughtered for now.

Agree with JTG, suggest you take a calming potion with you if Cory is in goal - he will stop a lot but again more likely to be dominated all over the area and let lots slip bye.
BUT...... I haven't given up hope on him and think he could become an excellent keeper over time.
He's 26 for crying out loud.............What age do you think he'll become excellent?
Ben Hamer and Freddie Woodman were both excellent when they were 18 and 17 respectively.

A mere baby JTG, or perhaps just seems that way as I get older!

So what quality goalkeeper do you think will be available in January that we can afford and would actually want to play for us? Corey is a good keeper.
Think you are right about being able to purchase anybody but think you have set the bar pretty low in your assessment as he has a way to go yet to get to that stage.
Our attendances are increasing year on year at the moment- we are playing good football now and are getting better - we may see new faces coming in the transfer window but that’s not a given- personally I’m happy with the squad we have and they are capable of doing what we all think is impossible- a play off place -
We are attracting more supporters from the London clubs as they find it getting more and more expensive to get to the premier and championship games- once they have been to a couple of Crawley games they seem to be hooked and keep coming - we are even getting them travelling to the away games on the coaches.
Brought my Dad along recently and he couldn’t believe the quality of football being played. I think we sometimes forget how bad lower league football used to be!

Totally agree with both posters here. It’s a great community club to go to (you get hooked in) and a fantastic alternative for those who are bored and bankrupt from following the Premier League games.
The standard in L2 is actually really good as I keep telling my father in law who is a big Arsenal fan.
Yes, the football quality has improved in general. In our later non-league seasons we appeared to be over reliant on a ball over the top, but we had Matt Tubbs who was quick enough to take advantage. However, I noticed that we could come a cropper getting the strength of the pass right, especially on a wet pitch. We could play a reasonable one or two-touch game as well, but only because the opposition was usually at a lower standard. We continued to rely a bit too much on ball over the top (IMO), though not exclusively, until pisstaker O'Driscoll briefly became manager, and the pre-season friendlies were a revelation with the change in style. Whatever bad things I might say about O'Driscoll, he did have us playing a good-quality game and this stuck for a while even after he left. Then the money ran out and the squad broke up. It has taken a few years, and dropping down a division, for such a style to re-emerge.
