Whatever happens - and it is no surprise that a few clubs have tracked a player with his quality & product - it shows what great decision it was a year back to sign him up on a 3 year deal.

Dead right, although I seem to remember some at the time thought it was a crazy thing to do

Have to agree with that Thad. I remember the first time we put our conference squad on two year deals.....they were shit and it crippled us!! Times have changed, and Collins signed for three does now look a master stroke.
Who knows if it is just newspaper talk but if Luton are really bidding between £200K and £300K for someone we got on a free 11 months ago, then we are getting to levels where I imagine our resolve will be tested.

Maybe we should go back to Luton and test their resolve by asking them which one of Hylton, Vassell or Marriott they plan to give us in addition to cash..? ... stir it up, go on... fight fire with fire, give them some difficult decisions to contend with...!

As has been said many times before, clubs like Crawley can only exist if they can buy low and sell high, I certainly wouldn't want to see Collins leave, especially to another L2 club, but no club can survive without cash
On that point, how on earth can Coventry afford to be in the market? I thought they were in dire financial straits

How can little old Luton, it wasnt many years ago they were whining at us spending money making it difficult for them to compete!!

Which is possibly ok if you have a reasonably steady stream of other players with potential coming through but we brought in alot of players not up to the job last summer along with one or two decent ones including Collins. We would need not only a replacement for him but the two or three other goalscorers to complement him that we didnt have last season. Our goalscoring record has been pretty appalling aside from him for the last two or three seasons. But aside from any problems it would cause with our already fairly weak squad the PR problems would take some getting over at a time when there isnt a great deal of positive news coming out of the club to entice season ticket holders?
As an ideal I would like Mr Eren to show commitment to the club's future by keeping James and getting another strike partner (plus a full back and creative midfielder please )
The club are meeting Collins this week, he will tell them he wants to leave and that will give the club the rational for agreeing a transfer.
The club will then use the money to add two or three players and try to convince everyone they are still ambitious.
Has Collins told you that personally? Or are you another crawley69, just guessing and pretending it's the truth? Last I heard, he was looking at buying/renting a house down south as he is happy at CTFC and wants to stay. It's just a rumour, I'm not posting it here like it's the gospel truth. You should try that.
