West Ham dumped out of FA Cup (trying to gloss over their victors)
A good Saturday of football
Former FA Cup winners Wimbledon putting 4 past a premier league team. It must bring back memories of their FA cup win and their ability to win a trophy before they even existed 😉
The first half (apart from the goal) may as well have not happened - the strong wind and driving rain didn't help but it must rank close to the worst half of football I have ever seen. Neither team could control the ball, neither team appeared to have heard of the word pass, neither team managed a shot on target (apart from the goal). Basically, nothing happened. Swindon did have the free kick on the edge of the box and it looked as if it was going in - from the noise from the home support, I think they thought it was in as well!
We couldn't really see what happened at the goal. Someone shot, there was a bit of a stramash and our players ran off celebrating. Still, it was good enough for us even if we were astonished that someone had scored.
Second half was a little different. There was more excitement in the first five minutes than the whole of the first half. If anything, the wind and rain were worse but we were the better team in the second half and played the better football - we both huffed and puffed in the first half and while we improved after the break, Swindon continued to huff and puff to no effect.
We created a few very good chances and although we buzzed about a bit more around their area, we didn't really test the keeper. At the other end Morris didn't have a save to make - until the 89th minute!
Late drama (again). We couldn't tell if it was a penalty or not - the replays look as if it was a little soft but the ref gave it. Comfortable save for Morris and great celebrations.
MoM? Morris only made one save but it was a match winning save. Joe McNerney was outstanding at the back and missed nothing. I though Lewis played well in both halves and Panuche gave his usual non-stop performance and did a fantastic job breaking up their play. It is hard not to give it to Joe for the sheer amount of work he put in but for impact on the result, it has to be Morris.
Swindon really were dreadful and other than the penalty, never looked like scoring. The Swindon 32 was the exception. He was their man of the match and kept Ollie very quiet all game.
Well deserved win and at last we break the away duck for Cioffi. Delighted for all the players and the manager. Well done to all those who made it through, the fans were outstanding throughout.
That rain and wind really was horrible. First half was frustrating with the amount of high balls all ending up in the technical area... could've done with keeping it a lot lower
Thanks Sons, how did Young and Sesay play together, was one RB and the other right mid? Or did Sesay play on the left?
They didn't play together. Young was on the right and Sesay on the left . Lewis played well throughout, Sesay did ok - he was solid, a little hesitant at times, a little slow but he didn't make any mistakes. He looked a little rusty and not properly match fit.

Funny, that's not how it looked coming out of the County Ground at 5 o'clock on Saturday.
I would just like to say how pleased i am with the result I am pleased for the Manager who takes quite a bit of stick on here and for the players who got us over the line and achieved a result we needed more no than at anytime of the season

Am I correct in saying that Sesay played in all of the matches over New Year where we achieved a three match clean sheet run and again against Swindon last Saturday. Must be a lesson there somewhere. He does bring a physical presence to the defence and deserves a run as first choice at full back - left or right.

that of curse is to be expected give the result and last minute pen save but its a very small minority of fans that travel away and its the home fans he needs to keep happy and many fans on here clearly dont rate him, perhaps you can tell these fans why you are so much behind him?

Fair point.. and speaking of physical presence, earlier in the season Bonzo had a similar impact when he first arrived too.

Why doesn't everyone get behind the management team and give them a chance? No chance of a change in the foreseeable future anyway.
