Barclay deserved the red card - not for the tackle. But for deciding that was the sort of challenge you should try and do in that part of the pitch. What a prat.
Game was killed from that point. Notts wanted a point. Might help them, does nothing for us - good or bad
If that performance from Crawley yesterday is indicative of what we can expect next season then it is going to be a long hard slog for survival. I watch football for entertainment and there was very little of that on offer. Why oh why, when Crawley have free kicks in midfield, did they work the ball back to Morris and then lose it through a mistake when there were opportunities to get the ball into the danger area and cause Notts some problems. A bore draw.
I thought that was a hugely entertaining game, the pressure was off and it was good to be relaxed at a game for once.
Notts looked up for it and started very well - we seemed a little sluggish and stood back, which is never good to see but overall, I never thought Notts had enough to worry us. The real turning point of course was the sending off. What a ridiculous tackle in that part of the pitch when he was going nowhere - not great for a team needing points.
Ashley's goal was very well taken - I think almost every goal he has scored for us has been the same - cut in, beat a couple of players and find the far corner.
As expected, we controlled the game once they were down to 10 men and although we huffed and puffed a bit - we don't move the ball quickly enough anyway but against 10 men you need to stretch the defence and we only managed that a few times. We also didn't get to the line, or cross often enough but we had our chances - the Dallison swallow dive would have been spectacular if that had gone in.
I don't think Notts had a chance or a shot after going to down to 10 men.
Lewis had a very mixed game, some good, some bad, big Joe missed nothing...again, Philipe ran the game and played very well, Bulman put his usual effort in but big Ollie!! I am not sure he touched the ball more than a few times - he was well off the pace and was going through the motions.
Man of the match for me, by some distance was Panuche - he was everywhere and his athleticism and speed won the ball back again and again.
The highlight of the game was when Tootle moved the foam up the pitch at the free kick - it was hilarious.
Great weather, a reasonable crowd, three matches unbeaten, safe for another season, pitch in fantastic condition, now comes the hard work.

GABRIELLE CIOFFI'S RED ARMY!
The final third had no cutting edge. Even against ten we still didn’t show a real “want to win” to take maximum points.
A disappointing result. We did not look like a team that wanted to win. If we are going to break teams down we need to get the ball forward quicker. For me there was to much passing around at the back. We played into notts hands who seemed happy to play for a draw once they went down to 10 men. Why? I will give credit to Craig Mackail-Smith who chased everything, But Notts C looked a poor team.

And the “Poor Team” still managed to take four points from us this season😳

CMS was outstanding, we could do a lot worse than rescue him from the non-league next season, he made Ollie like a statue...!
Typical bank holiday end of season match, one step up from beach football... who would have guessed that one team were fighting to retain their league status...?
I never expected to drop points at home to Notts, but hey-ho i really did not anticipate any points from Yeovil or Exeter...!

aftermath of Kewell ball where all we did was pass around the back.
a fun afternoon at the football so the match wasn't great who really cares? their number 2 played the pantomime villain at times and we did have a laugh when Yeovil went 1-0 up
the team lacked any kind of shape but it was a meaningless game for us just a shame we didn't try a couple of the fringe players to see if they can cut it at this level

It wasn't a meaningless game to the CTFC fans who paid to come and watch a football match. Pity some of the team didn't realise that.
And as for fringe players....some of our first teamers don't seem to be able to cut it at this level. Saturday was a shockingly bad performance. Notts County are shite - we didn't have to descend to their level, but we did.

ouch it appears i touched a nerve I paid my money and it was a meaningless game and everyone knew it before they paid their money
we can't go up we can't go down it was good fun as far as i and a few others were concerned sorry you didn't enjoy the game
I am sorry in sport no game should be regarded as meaningless you should always go full bore to win and if the opposition are below standard then fill your boots because next week someone will be trying to do it to you. When you are competing you should always go for the win so that winning becomes a habit. If you cant win then go down fighting but don't just go through the motions when people have paid good money to see you perform.
