As an addendum to playing with pride, passion and the badge. The higher your league position the more prize money you receive.
Play your arse of in the last few games you can move up the table and earn extra cash for the club which helps the budget for next season. It could be the difference between getting a player and not.
It wasn't a meaningless game to the CTFC fans who paid to come and watch a football match. Pity some of the team didn't realise that.
And as for fringe players....some of our first teamers don't seem to be able to cut it at this level. Saturday was a shockingly bad performance. Notts County are shite - we didn't have to descend to their level, but we did.
ouch it appears i touched a nerve I paid my money and it was a meaningless game and everyone knew it before they paid their money
we can't go up we can't go down it was good fun as far as i and a few others were concerned sorry you didn't enjoy the game
I suppose it's inevitable that players will take their foot off the pedal when safety is assured.
One of the disadvantages of having players on longer contracts is that there is no real incentive to put in the extra yards.

I will give credit to Craig Mackail-Smith who chased everything,
CMS was outstanding, we could do a lot worse than rescue him from the non-league next season, he made Ollie like a statue...!
Typical bank holiday end of season match, one step up from beach football... who would have guessed that one team were fighting to retain their league status...?
I never expected to drop points at home to Notts, but hey-ho i really did not anticipate any points from Yeovil or Exeter...!

Well Wycombe must be well blessed with talent if he is surplus to requirements...(?)
There was only two players who did not have their flip-flops on during Monday's - Monday not Saturday chaps - match... CMS & our own Pooch. They might not be the most sophisticated of players, but neither sold anyone short on the energy, pride & passion front.
I recall being told that CMS came very close to joining us at one stage (coincidentally, the man who told me & the brother of the man who tried to sign him, were part of the bank holiday crowd).
IMHO the home crowd are often a bit unfair to Pooch, he is still a work in progress. He puts so much focus into covering the ground & winning the ball, that unfortunately he has to then think about what to do with it... once he gets his brain & feet in synch, he has the makings of becoming a legend.

Agree on Camara. He's massively improved on the player we signed. Works hard, wins the ball often, can dribble through crowded midfields. If only he had a better shot on him he could be the whole package.
Also agree on Mackail Smith. At 35 I kept assuming he'd tire, but he just kept going. Only has 2 in 14 for Notts C, but they are rubbish, and he'd certainly make a useful option here. Seems to have the right attitude, and his experience could be invaluable for the likes of RGC and German.
He does look like the secret love-child of Robbie Savage & Pat Butcher, shares a few of their character traits too... you would want him on your side in a scrap...!

With most of the squad on contract next year unless they want to leave then we are stuck with what we have and would anyone want some of them. For this problem blame our director of football.
