Crawley Town play at home this evening Tuesday 12th November (7:45pm kick off) against Oxford United in the final group-stage fixture of this season's Leasing.com Trophy. Please keep all discussion about the match to this thread. Thank you and come on you Reds!
The 'odd' part of this competition is perhaps the following way points are awarded in the group stages:
(viii) Three points are awarded for a win and none for a defeat.
(ix) If the scores are level at the end of the group Match then each Club is awarded one point. In addition the Match will be followed immediately by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with procedures as approved by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and the Club that wins the penalty shootout will be awarded an additional one point. AND the bit that is perhaps the most relevant to Crawley: 5.1.2 Round of 32.
(i) The eight winners and eight runners up of the north and south group stages qualify for the round of 32. All other Clubs are eliminated from the Competition.
Meaning not only are Crawley already out of this competition but Oxford are already into the knock-out stage. Meaningless match? Interesting to see how many turn up and what side both put out.

I think the attendance will be very low tonight. I know the club are only opening up 2 stands but that is probably 1 too many
I have to agree TBH I will be amazed if the attendance is above 500 and even that's optimistic thinking. Will the club make a loss I'm sure a few on here will argue that. Do we have to play the fixture well I'm sure if we didn't there must be a clause somewhere of a fine etc. Will ANY yes ANY away fans travel? I doubt but perhaps a few lost exiles will come along but you should be able to count them on one maybe two hands! Does anyone really care about the result, competition, not really until the final at least. Normally I want us to play our full strength team all occasions, but as this is effectively a friendly then its an opportunity to give fringe players a run out. Even more amazing is you can purchase this match (for the same price £10 as in physical attendance at the match) via the club website to watch live on your screen! The club probably had little choice over the pricing of tickets but quite honestly even a fiver for a meaningless friendly seems over priced to me!
Is that a new low record of some sort? Player red carded and Im surprised TBH we have such an arguably strong line up. Surely Galach will get more than a cameo?

Apparently Lubalu replaced Nadesan at HT as well, so no.
Useful workout for players needing games, I don’t think there is any need to be particularly negative given we were already out and hence this was little more than a training match.
For the record Oxford were decent and we struggled in the first half. A triple substitution at half time gave us more shape and drive and we got it back to 2-1.
Alas Francomb looking a little rusty after his injury made a mistake got sent off and gave away the pen, 3-1 and game over. Too bad but not important.
Luyambula made a hash of the first goal but then pulled off some wonderful saves, one compared to Gordon Banks by someone a row down from me. I reckon he’ll deserve a league game at some point this season.
Odd that Camera and Dallison had to play the full match but we had to play some first teamers I guess and they came through fine.
Don’t think too many will have put pressure on the first teamers tonight, hoping for more from Boadu who was peripheral. Both McNerney and Francomb not quite ready for starts yet judging by this
A hatrick of pens as Oxford win 4-1, does Gabby realises nothings at stake. Some players must be well p155ed off not getting much/any game time.
Why not give Galach a game, perfect opportunity with nothing to play for. He’s not going to improve if you don’t give him a chance. Same with other players.

I'm sure he does, but he also has to operate within the rules of the competition on qualifying players. Quite complicated but at least 4 first choice outfield players must be there. For the purposes of this they were Dallison, Sesay, Camara, Nadesan as they started the previous first team game.
Gabby really can't win here, but you can't just play a bunch of stiffs.

I think he needs games but not at this level yet. He’s made more mistakes in 6 games then Morris over 4 seasons! Maybe a season on loan at National/National south would be better for development rather than bench warming.

My guess is he wanted to see Nadeson in wide role and ANG didn’t start at weekend and needs minutes
