I was planning on it glad I didn’t now, how can we go up against sides like Norwich then bottle it against Eastbourne bizzare. Looking forward to the yems interview

players like Dean Cox wanted it more. Eastbourne's Greg Luer needs to be scouted and an early offer tabled.
Poor performance tonight. Powell gave the ball away for the first goal. Not sure if he was trying too hard, but not up to scratch based on tonight. No one from Crawley stood out as having a good game and there was no fluidity at all. Bit better after our 2nd and the change to 3 centre backs, but that momentum soon fizzled out. Big missed header by Bloomfield in the final 5 minutes to equalise.
Overheard one Eastbourne player after the match saying he felt the Crawley team weren't bothered which was probably right.
Didn't see Yems there tonight and heard very little from the Crawley bench (although possibly because of Eastbourne's rather gobby manager). Can anyone confirm?

I didnt see Yems either. That has greatly angered me what you overheard. Im angry I bothered to turn up and the players didnt.
Can confirm that John Yems was there as l had a conversation with him before the game - not a good performance- game should never have been played on the 4g pitch - although we train there, we play on grass - next season play all games at our stadium if drawn at home in the senior cup

I agree and I'm no fan of plastic pitches. I also think its somewhat of an insult to the non-league teams that probably look forward to drawing the professional clubs only to find the match played at a non-league ground. What I cannot understand is why some of the Crawley players that are surely trying to edge their way into first team selection did not grasp the opportunity tonight. A thoroughly miserable evening in bitterly cold temperatures.

how did German play?
did ok i suppose but he was up against non-league defenders so hard to judge him properly. Eastbourne had a right go at us right from the start and that shouldve been a warning sign they werent gonna just roll over.

I remember Greg well from Burgess Hill and the year they went about 30 unbeaten. Hull was a bit too far and he has drifted back down via Woking to EB. Still only 25 but needs to be playing.
If the Crawley squad train on the 4G surface every day, then surely they should have used that to their advantage?
If the “Fringe players” aren’t good enough to raise their game and compete against lower rated opposition, then you really need to question their ability and desire to play League 2 football.

Exactly. The squad we had out should have been more than good enough to beat a Conf South team.
All excuses can be made, lack of regular football, opponents raised their game, it was on 4G etc but they are just that....excuses.

I go further. I say given Brighton don't even play any regular first team players in this competition but we put out several last night that have had first team experience, we should be the favourites every year to win this competition and at the very least make the final. Personally I think it can be a good day out with something to cheer at the end of the season. That has now gone but the manner in which we were beaten angers me.
It was abysmal Most of the players who you thought would be trying to get in team on Saturday following the Walsall defeat appeared to be off the pace and performed as if it was a training game The young Dutch lad Gyliano VV showed a few nice moves with nifty footwork but none of the players rated anywhere near good enough Not as bad as the stuffing a few years ago to Whitehawk but Dean Cox and Sergio Torres certainly had the last laugh!!
