The papers are just copying each other, all though it's going to happen there has been no announcement because there could be complications, otherwise we would have announced it
Harrys played in the biggest match for a European club team, ok about 20 mins of it! he has worked with some top managers so hopefully some of that has rubbed off on him. We have to get behind whoever it is!
So it's looking like it will be Kewell. It got me thinking that perhaps whilst ZE may not think he's the best managerial appointment, HK will have some sort of global appeal across a couple of continents, with him being awarded the best Australian footballer of all time and being ex-Galatasaray. The modern game now - as sad as it is - is to be some sort of global business, no matter what the level, so Harry fits the bill in that sense.
Still, if Stanza is to be believed and Feeney comes in as assistant, then at least we have one man on board that knows the Football League circuit. I dare say Bully will be assisting in that sense, too.
With DD and MG we had someone like Kewell, who worked in youth football and had a knowledge of younger prospects, but was assisted by a man who'd only worked in non-league, meaning we actually had nobody on board who really knew the quality of the division and the calibre of player needed for League Two. Didn't I read somewhere a few months back that initially DD was concerned McNerney wasn't good enough for League 2?!
Another positive HK will have is that he's played at the top level, won titles, represented his country in World Cups, moved clubs for millions of pounds and was a brilliant player (at Leeds, at least). That'll get him more respect from the players than DD received, IMO. After all, if I was a James Collins or Dean Cox and was being told what suits your game best by someone whose playing career highlight was representing Blackpool five times before dropping into non-league, I'm not sure I'd be too keen to take his ideas and methods on board in a serious fashion.
Anyway, time to get behind the new boss, whether we wanted him in charge or not. The first non-British manager we've ever had and the first Champions League winner to be associated with us? Over to you, JB!

A sensible and well reasoned post there Warren! I'm skeptical that if it is to be Kewell, that he'll just be another DD as he lacks any first team management experience and has done youth coaching only. In fact, compared to DD Kewell's record is even worse than DD, at least DD was relatively successful at youth level, Kewell was sacked from his only coaching position at Watford U23 for poor results.
However, Kewell has that experience at the highest level of the game, playing for some big clubs and playing international football. He should get the respect of the players from that alone and in his first managerial role he has a lot to prove!
Time will tell, but it'll be another season of change whoever's in charge.

Yes, fair point. As a result we ended up with too many Conference level players who didn't really kick on.
Arthur, Banton, Payne, Tajbaksh, Clifford, Blackman, Roberts and Yorwerth all seemed to have their good games (well most did) but weren't consistent enough for L2 football. Really only Glenn Morris really looked the part.
One thing I did see in our relegation season was that it was only after Saunders brought in some more experienced types (Ward, Wood, Youga etc) that we steadied up a bit and if the season ended 2/3 weeks later we might have scraped home. Keith Keane was another similar player.
not sure i would put Blackman in with that lot Simon he got better and better and with a decent manager could turn out to be one h*ll of a player he is a great athlete and now that petulant streak seems to have wained he really could kick on
The only time roberts really played badly was when he was out of position at left back. Other than that the only thing that prevented him from having a really good season was his injuries.

And Roberts looked a class player when fit and when not played at left back!

We will agree to disagree on that then.
If he is a L2 left back then I am a Dutchman. He might look good going forward but he can't defend for toffee.
