Lee Mason robs BHA of an equaliser goal against WBA. He blows the whistle. BHA score from freekick then after bizarre VAR goal ....given then ....ruled out... we hear a clear blow then second blow of whistle on TV replays. Its live on Sky and be interesting to see if the ref comes out for the second half with a red nose....and that could be the (non)goal-scorer Dunk's doing or of Billy Smarts.

Complete joke.
I like BHA and hope they stay up. Is that ok on here?

Nope. I’m an ex Palace fan and I hate them and hope they go down

It's perfectly ok I'm sure quite a few Crawley fans have an interest in Brighton. Apparently the TV pundit say the ref blew the second time and VAR confirms that the ball hadn't crossed the line but I thought if the ball is in flight the goal stands or am I applying basketball rules here. I recall seeing the Brighton Bears (Anyone remember them?) where a game was won in exactly that situation ball in flight and it dropped through the basket just after the whistle was blown and the basket (goal) stood. Back to Football, for me that has to be one of the most bizarre decisions I've ever seen.
Two penalty misses and a ridiculous goal disallowed. VAR is bad enough but that ref looks incapable of Sunday kids football and yet he is in charge of a Premier League match. Imagine what Yems would do if he were the manager of a goal like that disallowed?
I don’t think the decision itself was that bad, it was the indecision and chaos afterwards that’s the issue. Went from being scored to disallowed pretty quickly...then allowed to stand after a delay...then after a further delay, disallowed again.
Don’t forget, he did award two penalties and Brighton missed them both. Can’t only blame the ref for them losing.

It was dreadful. The player was on the radio being interviewed post-match and he said he asked the ref if he can take the free kick; ref said yes, blew his whistle, player kicks ball in the back of the net and then whistles again gives goal, then disallows it, the FA need to investigate stuff like this as it discredits the game.

IMHO: The contentious part is that it was finally disallowed by VAR, I see that as beyond the scope of their operation. Only the Ref knows what he authorised & his thinking when he blew his whistle... ...the only person in a position to 2nd guess the Ref... is the Ref... that is what he did... he revised his own opinion on his own actions... ....so why does VAR then get a chance to revise his already revised opinion...?

That is very true - and has parallels with some recent Crawley experiences too - blaming officials eases the pressure on players who need to take more responsibility. As a Manager you cannot totally eliminate mistakes by players or the officials, the best you can do is prepare players not to lose focus or confidence when they happen.
If it wasnt for VAR the goal would of stood. Get VAR out of football...its jhst making more debate and more controversy, the complete opposite of what its meant to do.
Brighton and Brighton well wishers are NOT welcome on this forum...🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Well as a Brighton fan myself I think most of us are blaming our own incompetence. I actually think Allardyce was right in that officials do give teams time to sort out their wall and he made a mistake allowing Brighton to take it, but realised it micro seconds before the ball went in the net and blowing the whistle again. He should have stuck to that decision but bizarrely allowed his mind to be changed by Brighton protests, something that creates a rod for refs at every level of the game. VAR then bailed him out and I think the final decision is right for the game. Interestingly, the opposite happened in the England Wales rugby game yesterday and I thought England suffered an injustice

Aren't you also - in common with VAR & pundits - just 2nd guessing the Ref...?
The only person who has any informed capacity to read the Refs mind is the Ref... VAR was never introduced with an intention to provide yet another subjective analysis...!
But the dispute was on a point of fact, not on what was in his mind. The Brighton players persuaded him the ball was in the net before he blew the second whistle and hence he let the goal stand. The VAR check revealed that wasn’t factually the case, and asked him to think again in that light - and he did. It was a very messy way of reaching what was in the end the right decision. If WBA had scored a goal in that manner, I would have not wanted it to stand so . . .
On that basis, Liverpool should now appeal about an identical goal by the same player... that stood a few weeks previously.
We can respectfully agree to differ. I simply see no factual basis for concluding that:
- the ref was PERSUADED to change his mind, reminding him that he had authorised the taking of the kick falls a long way short of that.
- the 2nd whistle had any impact whatsoever on the outcome of a goalbound shot.
It is also being overlooked that the Ref had the option to use VAR at the point he reconsidered his verdict... his decision not to should have terminated any role it had to play.
