I see Son of Spurs is the latest to complain about it, or at least someone has on his behalf (I'm not sure which it is).
I'd be interested to know where others stand on this. Personally, I've never called out a player directly online for anything, even when they might deserve it. I think it's reasonable to go onto a player's account and say what's bugging you e.g. 'surely you took a dive', 'you made a meal of that', or maybe even a more pointed 'you looked like you'd fall over in a breeze, you old tart'. Maybe the last one crosses a line, but not by much. It's football - banter happens. But dragging someone's race or skin colour into it seems way too far for me - apart from being completely irrelevant.
As far as the Son match incident goes, if the finger caught him in an eye then it can be a horrible injury, but going over as if pole-axed doesn't seem like a natural reaction to me. I can imagine that if it happened to me I might be holding my face or even dropping to my knees if it felt very bad, but lying on the deck prone? That seems odd.
I read that some tried to implicate Solskjaer's words about him 'not getting any food', but I did detect a touch of humour around the wordplay on 'Son'. But Solskjaer can't be held responsible for the actions of online plonkers.
I thought we had moved on from monkey chants and cries of 'Enoch' at black players, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's merely become buried deeper and used by anonymous cowards instead.
A person should be judged by the content of his character and not the colour of his skin.
Regardless of whether you feel Son made a meal of it or not the colour of his skin or the place of his birth has nothing to do with it. It is an irrelevance and only brought up to mask the inadequacies of the person making the argument. What to do with that person is open to debate. Maybe a name and shame tactic would work. I noticed a news article that stated that most female footballers get sent " dick pics" . That would be a name and shame that I would definitely avoid !
By the way. My own personal opinion was that it was a foul. That McTominay should have received a yellow card for throwing his hand/fist into someone's face. It's also my opinion that Son made a meal of it but as the pundits are forever saying " he had a right to go over in that situation ". I find most of the pundits too be two faced when these type of incidents happen. A favourite player and it's " he was right to go down" a player or club they don't like or to back up the Billy Big boots on the punditry team and it's " what's football coming too".

Ps I also thought Pogba should have got a straight red card.

I wasn't sure about the McTominay incident. It could easily be seen as a total accident, and if he was intending harm it would be very difficult to be so accurate (I'm assuming it caught Son's eye).
I don't recall an incident with Pogba. I think I've deleted MoTD now but I think it's possible to undelete, so will look sometime.
I've always felt some respect for Son and I hope he wasn't going down like that because McT had just received a yellow.
Watch the Liam Cooper sending off for Leeds against City. Goes into the tackle, wins the ball and then catches the opponent but is deemed to be out of control and therefore sent off.
Pogba goes into the tackle, wins the ball and then clatters the opponent with an elbow to the face. This was not deemed out of control.
If one is a red card they both should be.
Anyway, off topic. Get back to what to do with homophobic/racist/sexist people.

I see what you mean about Pogba and I'm surprised more wasn't made of it at the time. The only possible mitigation might be whether it was arm or elbow.
Anyway, I'm at a loss regarding the types of abuse on social media. I fear we might see more and more players retreating behind a privacy wall and only using it for friends and family. And could we blame them for it?
