Could be the end of football as we know it. The franchise product arrival but do not despair:
meanwhile the EFL league 1 and league 2 will be operating their own supper league (matches ko in the evenings and will be broadcast via icrap aka ifollow and you tuber) the 10 teams competing with Crawley Town are: Orient, Southend, Stevenage, Forest Green, Cambridge United, AFC Wimbledon, MK Dons, Charlton, Portsmouth, Wigan Athletic

I see that the football authorities are targeting players by threatening them with bans from other competitions and their national teams. However, the clubs haven't received such a threat, but the threat to players could be taken as such.
At the moment I see this as a game of chess and, so far, only the opening gambiuts have been made.
Clubs' supporters associations seem to all be against it. If they are serious they need to threaten boycotts and mean it.
I naively believe that football must be competitive throughout the leagues with opportunities for all clubs to progress through the pyramid. This reminds me of the Harlem Globetrotters., great to watch once but something you quickly get tired off.
Maybe the FA & broadcasters should have been more careful for what they wished for when founding the Premier League...?
Yup exactly.
The english game and the media welcomed all these foriegn owners and their money. Now the owners want bigger and better things and everyone got the hump. The Prem league are not innocent in this, they just know they will loose billions.
I have listened to a fair bit on BBC Radio 5 about this and there is opinion (obviously not exclusive) that there are star players that play for these top clubs that the average fan cannot see and identify with and they are becoming/have become a fan's TV team and then they have a team they watch and can identify with face-to-face and be that Dulwich Hamlet, Leyton Orient or Three Bridges. Now, per se, I'm against this franchise of exclusivity (whilst laughing at Arsenal being a top 6) because the dream has to be Three Bridges, Dulwich Hamlet and Leyton Orient can do a Wombledon (and go beyond). BUT, if it increased fan bases, interest etc. at EFL and non-league clubs there could be a gain. Im bored of (and rarely) watch(ing) boring, boring, Arsenal and Moan United anyway, so if they are on pay per Mortgage TV what do I care. However, Norwich v West Brom doesn't appeal and is unlikely to appeal to many unless you support these teams. To conclude ultimately there appears so much mounting opposition to this super league its hard to see it going ahead.
......... (whilst laughing at Arsenal being a top 6) ..............
Being a Gooner I am slightly bemused about this ..... and apart from very recent years the inclusion of Spurs is also eyebrow raising.
One wonders what happened with regard to, say, Bayern Munich or PSG for example. And what happens when the next multi-zillionaire buys a club, as you do.
Teams should be in top leagues on merit. I guess you need to look no further than the so-styled "Champions League" - the last time Spurs were champions was 1960 I believe.
There again, this will not be the first time that Arsenal have entered an elite competition without getting there on merit ......
It would be easy enough to prevent this if uefa and Fifa want to.
If you are part of the Super League you cannot be part of any uefa/Fifa competition. The first TV contract will be for three years and will be massive. After three years the fans will be bored and their clubs will have to recruit more teams or have a much reduced TV income. If the other clubs stand firm then the Super League will collapse. Then let them back but in with a fairer distribution of the TV money.
This will not happen. Uefa and Fifa will meet with the "Super" twelve and come to a compromise which will be "in the interest of all concerned". Except us, of course.
Meanwhile Burgess Hill, Crawley, Crawley Down, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Ifield, Oakwood and Three Bridges have denied reports of a breakaway "Super Sussex" League. However a spokesperson for the group welcomed the news that Horley and Redhill had applied.
