Does anyone else watch The Big Match Revisited? It's the rerun of programmes aired c. 1975-1980 on Sunday afternoons and there are some excellent games. It's quite an insight into how so many little things about the game have changed over the years - not least playing styles. It looks like the linesmen operated on different sides from now.
Yes it’s fascinating cos it’s games from my young childhood. I’m sure a computer simulation will be built one day soon that can “create” a game between a team from those days and one from now.

No players diving, poor quality muddy pitches, no berating and hassling the match officials, the officials having common sense and smiling and Brian Moore etc commentating. Happy days and memories!!!

Neither party could survive a month of the others lifestyle... Can you imagine today's Pro's getting away with a relentless regime of "booze, birds, baccy & bookies"...(?)
I found the section a bit odd when Brian Moore was reading viewers' letters. No texts or emails, just paperwork through the post. Here's the really odd bit though: he was reading out people's names and full addresses, including house numbers, on air. The world has changed, eh?
