This trophy needs to do something different I think to generate a bit more interest. I'm not even sure if I'm serious here but what if say the game starts with a penalty shoot out (so virtually guarantee to see lots of goals) and the winner (the pen shoot out can't be drawn) takes that penalty shoot out as the outcome for the result if they draw the match. Ok down side might be the team that won the shoot out sits back on a draw second half. But something has to be done as I agree with Creepy Crawley an u21 team in this doesn't excite me one bit.

Probably get a lot of stick for this but I'd personally look to replace the academy teams with Scottish clubs. I know in the Scottish equivalent of this competition they invite teams from Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and even a couple from the National League to it and actually I think watching us play against teams like Arbroath, Raith Rovers and Ayr United would be fun

Good idea Steve Or even expand that to inlude Welsh and Northern Ireland teams. That would add some real UK wide interest into the trophy.

No problems freshening things up but Crawley to Arbroath is over 1,000 miles return trip. I can't believe many clubs would want that midweek.
Although it's been formally switched to under 21s this season (pretty much doing that in practice for years anyway), five rather than three overage players can now play

The attractive old harbour of Arbroath remains in action and long sandy beaches and stunning sandstone cliffs stretch out on either side of the town. Arbroath abbey, located near the centre of the town, is also well worth a visit.
The town's most famous product is the Arbroath Smokie
What's not to like Simon , come on, you'll love it up there !

For sure, a nice place to visit, although I'm not sure the cliffs and beaches will be so attractive on a cold Tuesday night in October.
The manager of Arbroath, Dick Campbell, is a total legend in Scottish football and one of the funniest people I have ever heard talking about the game.
