Of course it mustn't be forgotten that KB said yes to allowing fans to decide what part of the team would be strengthened by a new star player, he said yes when asked if fans could be involved in the matchday squad in the PJT and he said yes to putting YouTubers on the bench in the FA Cup. Will Wagmi want the new manager to answer yes or no to those types of requests in the future? The answer to that question will have a huge impact on the future of CTFC and will be a major influence on who wants to be the next manager.
None of those things made the smallest scrap of difference to our results this season.
You got what you wanted this season, which is having the ownership you want, so I don’t know why you have to come sticking your oar in here sowing myths on a difficult day for Crawley fans.
The story is actually much simpler, an opportunity was given to a promising, inexperienced young manager who had good credentials on paper but it didn’t work out. It has worked out better for a similar type of guy at Salford. That’s football, it happens. Nothing to do with the trivia you mention
I think you may have misread my initial post but I will say that I have a lot of sympathy for KB and can see parallels with his fate and that of Michael Collins who was an up and coming young coach who saw his reputation trashed by a brief disastrous stint as Bradford City manager when most of the ire should be aimed at the respective boards for not providing a framework for them to be able to succeed in.
For what it's worth, I'd regard our owner as the least worst option rather than one I would actvely opt for. Not sure what "myths" you refer to but I definitely don't see any equivalence between Crawley and Salford, Neil Wood might be young and a first time manager like KB but behind the scenes Crawley and Salford are poles apart.
Anyway, Steve - do you mind if I ask you a question? I mentioned that KB had agreed to stuff like the signing vote, sidemen etc... how do you think Wagmi will proceed with the new manager? Do you think they are going to be looking for someone who will go along with their more "innovative" ideas or do you think that they will be looking for someone who will tell them when they might need to reign themselves in a little bit?

Fair enough and sensible comments on Betsy from you I think --- but I just queried your timing. You'll know that was a difficult day for Crawley fans so I think away fans wanting a respectful dialogue would probably pick their time and moment to raise these issues - up to you.
My point is they are genuinely seperate and have nothing to do with Betsy. He was someone who had impeccable credentials on paper with England/Arsenal and many ownerships are employing managers (perhaps riskily it's fair to say) from that background nowadays, not just Wagmi. I raised the example of Salford this season and you've not explained why they are different and how you think Wagmi sabotaged Betsy in a way Salford haven't Wood.
The examples you raise don't provide that explanation. The vote on the midfielder had zero impact on Betsy's deliberations (I'm sceptical of these votes but they do no real harm if they are this general). The sideman promotion (a good idea in my view when we don't have the numbers of Bradford season ticket holders and hence need to market ourselves more imaginatively) had zero impact on how we put teams out in the league. Some people are still banging on about "Cum Brains" as if that influenced anything on the pitch at all. I get you don't like Wagmi but you need to marshall better evidence to support your overall case, in my view.
KB might have been a good academy manager with all the qualifications imaginable, but he was in way above his head being a L2 manager. He played players out of position and as for his substitutions 3 or 5 minutes from the end just highlighted, he hadn't got a clue. He kept on about possession football well you don't get points for that you need to shoot and score to get points something it seemed he did not understand or grasp. As you will grasp from this post, I am glad has gone. Should have gone 6 games earlier because the team playing his way never improved in those last 6 games but got us in the sh1t league position which we now have to work like stink to improve.
Last Saturday the way we played with pressure and intensity along with having a shot whenever the chance arose was the most enjoyable match, I have enjoyed this season well done Louis. Just showed if you play the players in the position, they understand you get results.

Great post trev. I would have gone soon than 6 games to be honest as it was so clear early on especially after the players he signed and also the ones he let go that he didn’t have a clue. Without a shadow of doubt we would have been relegated with Betsy, and listening to his interviews were hard to take. Kept going on about Telford being injured and then put him on the bench. It was down to luck, it was down to refs, it was down to lack of experience which coming from the guy that signed 19 players under the age of 25 was a bit rich. It’s good to have different opinions on here, but their seemed to be 1 or 2 (mainly 1) on here that couldn’t seem to handle hearing the truth about Betsy. The facts were stated many times yet we weren’t proper fans for not supporting Betsy even though they couldn’t give a decent argument for keeping him. There’s been some nonsense spouted on here, but I wonder if that person will grow a pair and apologise?

The Salford City project has been underway for a number of years, aside from the football knowledge in the company that you get from the Neville's, Butt, Scholes, Beckham and Giggs the infrastructure of the club from a business perspective and more importantly a footballing perspective (e.g. data, medical, nutrition, scouting, dev squad etc) was already in place and financed by a billionaire when NW was appointed which is in stark contrast to the environment that KB had to operate in where everything had to be started from scratch. Even just looking at the 1st team playing squads, NW has been able to evolve an already settled squad whereas KB was tasked with overhauling the squad and changing it from one of the lowest budgets in L2 to one of the largest which for all the sporting benefits that change will bring it will have also brought a set of unique HR challenges as the previous wage structure was jetisonned.
All the peripheral stuff like the voting and the sidemen stuff will have had minimal impact on the success or failure of KB but it will have a profound impact on who becomes the next manager because even if it's "just a sub" Wagmi have told the world that they will mandate team selection in the FA Cup and let fans pick the team for a PJT tie which will put off more potential managers than it will attract.
However, what I will note, is that KB agreed to letting fans pick the team against AFC Wimbledon and Wagmi only went back on the idea after fans intervened which is why I questioned whether Wagmi will be looking for a manager who will be fully bought in to all their ideas or if they will be looking for someone who will say no if they get a bit over excited.

Just because Wagmi have said they will do something doesn’t mean they will. I don’t recall any of this team selection stuff? And we haven’t signed any of the sidemen so that’s irrelevant tbh.

Honestly the Bradford lads should pack it in, they’re obsessed about Wagmi and just lose any perspective and elevate trivial stuff to outsized importance. They should just be enjoying their own season
