When looked at directly in line, the edge of the ball is just about making a tangent with the outer edge of the goal line. i.e. no green grass between ball and line. I've seen some very close decisions since goal-line technology came into being, but I think that's the tightest ever. Fine margins indeed.
I'm currently in the town centre at a Moroccan cafè in The Broadwalk. Cars have been driving around outside in procession, horns hooting, flags draped. Celebration hangs in the ice-cold air.
I'm waiting around for the England-France game in the hope that we will be pitted against Morocco in the semis - more hope than expectation though.

My interest in it pretty much disappeared when England got knocked out. Switched my allegiance to Morocco who I think have been fantastic. I'm gutted they got beaten.
I'm in the "anyone but Argentina" camp. Though to be honest I don't like France either, so I won't be watching the final.
Yeah agree with the last 3 posters, didn’t use to be like that, but couldn’t really get into Tuesday’s semi-final as we weren’t in the one the following night.
I may have finally forgiven Argentina for THAT goal. It's been a long time coming (36 years). I don't mind Argentina winning the World Cup, because I won't have to witness Maradona enjoying the moment. The summer of 1986 when I nearly smashed the teĺly. I don't think the two countries had any particular problem with each other until 1966 - the harsh sending off of Rattín (appropriate name) when the entire team walked off and Alf Ramsey called them 'animals' in an uncharacteristic moment of emotion. I say sending off was harsh because although Rattín was in the referee's face with persistent protests, a booking should have come first, a sending off only occurring if he continued. There was no yellow-red card escalation back then, but the book was regarded as a yellow and the finger pointing to the dressing room, a red. Reading up on this, it appears that the incident was one of the early causes of the yellow-red system and it was applied in the 1970 World Cup. It took a while for it to be employed universally, but with football being such an international game, even at domestic level, it's probably a good thing to have a system which overcomes any language barriers.
It didn't help when the nations went to war in the early 80's over the Falklands/Malvinas and were pitted against each other in the '86 World Cup when THAT goal happened. In fact, the match might not have happened as many questioned whether the two nations should play football against each other when the war was still quite recent.
Anyway, I have no problem with Argentina winning the World Cup now that Maradona isn't around to enjoy it.
As a footnote, how many realised that Antonio Rattín was briefly a scout for Sheffield United in the late 70's? No, I didn't either, but it's here
Robbie Savage on the radio said Brighton player MacAllister's value had gone up to 50 to 75 million. Crazy money. Oh and any chance WAGMI? He'll be a nice replacement whilst Ashley is out.
