Admittedly I started following the club this summer due to the unique situation the new owners brought. I grew up playing football (soccer for me) and have always been fascinated with the English football system and the level of support from fans. Also every year I try to pick a team in League 2 to follow but never get further than watching a match or two. However this "project" from the owners was intriguing and ultimately I've watched all Crawley Town matches so far this year. Yes I ventured into the NFT world too...oh well on that "investment".
Obviously this year has been painful to say the least for true Crawley fans. Wondering if there is any scenario you see where the owners could right the ship? What needs to happen in the transfer window and with selecting a manager? I'm curious if you guys think any big signings are possible?

Most here have probably given up as the time so far has been a disaster. I do find it interesting that the model is creating new fans but I hope that there is still room for a satisfactory solution although many will not feel that way. Hing a yes man manager isn't the solution but not sure yet if the owners see that!

My suggestion would be to make Steve Evans and Stevenage an offer they cant refuse. Then let Evans recruit in this transfer window.
That's if WAGMI's ambition and finances are what we were led to believe.

Are you Preston in disguise (desperately searching for answers), lol, ok. Steady a sinking ship...doubt it, how can we attract any decent players with repeatedly bad publicity. Only new players and those 'desperate' will hang around. Get an apology to Lewis Young and get him back. Club legend and essentially capable. Stability and security needed. Settled team and squad of say 16 that feature regularly not a squad if 60. Need blend experience and raw enthusiasm etc. Darren B may have technically P2W0D1L1 but he knows the players and club and comes across really well. Retain him and consider promoting him to support Lewis Young. Will that happen? Doubt, but doesnt stop me wanting LY back. Big signings I dont know if the piggy bank is full or empty. Lets hope former and plenty of gold coins too. We need 2 top draw centre-halves. Build from there. If WAGMI mean business get a couple, ideally 3 (or more) big names here. I mean really big. Look above L1. Unless paying silly money that wont happen. Shot themselves in foot. Club is in a desperate position. Thin line between survival and oblivion in this league.

I'm sure that would build bridges.
Steve Evans is a guarantee to L2 survival. Best manager we have ever had and he cares about the club. You cant buy that care that passion. Yems had a lot of that but WAGMI have destroyed any chance of JY returning.

Lolol I thought about that once I posted. Coming in here in disguise. Nope, just a normal guy with no crypto fortune. I obviously don't have much history but I liked Lewis Young. Definitely thought he would get a chance. Fingers crossed Crawley makes a big, positive splash in the window.

cash splashed isnt a guarantee of success. It definately helps though whether WAGMI have more or are prepared to spend more is another matter. We havent heard anything to 'guarantee' that and few fans believe anything they say anyway.

That's the problem - trust has now been broken and it would take a lot more than a beer or two at a bowling alley to restore it.

Welcome mate (pal!), always nice to have new (any!) fans. Preston has spoken in one of the many statements floating around about adding to the squad in January, I guess it's just a question of what the calibre will be. Personally I don't think we're losing much on the field in terms of the three veterans who seem to have been frozen out, but this team really does need some experienced heads in the dressing room (locker room!) to replace them. As things stand I think the apparent naivety of the owners will probably see it ending in tears, but my eternal optimism means I haven't given up hope entirely. If they can find a good manager from somewhere to lead the way and inspire the players and fans, as well as making some shrewd signings, you never know. Frankly to succeed from here this season will basically be to stay up, and I maintain we really don't have to be all that good to do that. There are some dreadful teams in this league, the main problem being we are currently one of them, but hopefully not for much longer.
Hope you have a better time of being a Crawley fan yourself soon!
Well we did buy Conroy, but like a lot of our best players at CTFC they keep getting injured which is why we have tried and succeeded at securing grass facilities. But as the club has found out that has its own drawbacks in inclement weather whereas at Horsham we could train any weather but makes the players more prone to injuring themselves in training. Now that Craig has gone we need another top league 2/league 1 defender. Yems (and Lewis) knew the importance of the defence and it was why we were able to achieve 12th as we could scrap for clean sheets

It would be nice, but in SE's position I can't see why he would swap a promotion push for a relegation scrap, or why he would want to work for people who clearly want to interfere. Also SE's approach to building a team is based on scouting and his network, not some plonker sat behind a screen looking at xG stats.

Good question. The Majeed era taught us that trust once damaged is almost impossible to recover and it will take a long time if ever for Eben Smith and Preston Johnson/Vaughn to regain any credibility.
The only way forward that I can see would be to hire a DOF and Manager with proper experience, get rid of Chris Galley, and for the WAGMI people to take a very low profile role, preferably 5,000 miles away.

Actually, Bro THAT is the key area that underpins everything.
We can see the direction of travel for the football operation and we all know that they operate in a “fake it till you make it world”, but they arrived with a manifest destiny to combine NFT & footy in a winning formula.
Apparently, with the Consortium they had put together - although the football side may take a bit of time - the NFT element was a slam dunk with their proven track record and literally millions of online followers for their own cohort & associated partners (Adidas, Sidemen etc). And according to the hype it was a great success, or so we are told…
Now if we are being candid, we all know that NFTs are just a means for getting new mug punters into the bottom of the crypto pyramid, which those higher up the pyramid rely upon. And they gave us reassuring numbers for the initial drop… but no detail.
In an unregulated market there is nothing to prevent their people from hyping their own product, it goes on, but to what extent…? Are there now people who provided seed funding to Wagmi Utd, who are stuck with a load of NFTs that are losing value…?
Combine that with an increasing cost base at Crawley Town, some of it deliberate (recruitment, warm-weather training), some of it circumstantial (severance packages) and a financial black-hole could emerge. Even when they were splashing the readies there were anecdotal tales of petty cost-cutting that did not reconcile with the big picture.
The cruelest one being the young player who had his arrangement for the club to pay his rent abruptly terminated. It did not sit comfortably. And could explain why offloading experienced players in favour of younger - cheaper - ones becomes an attractive proposition.
As the season progressed, the last thing those investors would have wanted to see is one of their own, ranting like a paranoid coke-head on Twitter.
So Pardner, we can all see for ourselves how they are perceived in the football world… so why don’t YOU tell US whether they still have any credibility on the other side of the equation... or are they now a laughing stock in the online sphere too…?

WAGMI have repeatedly shown they don’t know how to spend cash correctly. Nothing has changed since August to suggest they’d get it right a second time

Assuming they actually have the cash Mattyman... ...at the time of the initial drop, my trader associate on the West Coast calculated that: - the announced circa $3 million of NFT ...erm... "sales"... - would have actually cost THEM a cool circa $3.5 million...!
