Well we have reached the half way stage with 33 points from 23 games. Much better than I expected, but clearly a mid table team. We have played everyone once apart from Morecambe, and also played Gillingham twice. Looking at appearances it is clear that Scott mainly relies on his 17 core players. My view on squad is:
Core Players
Kelly, Lolos, Darcy, Williams all on 2 year contracts and done well, although Williams needs to improve his disclipline.
Tsaroulla, Gordon, Campbell, Orsi and have all done well enough to earn a new contract, and we should look at offering this soon.
Wright, Addai, Ransom and Conroy probably deserve new contract provided have good second half of season/keep fit. Prefer Wright in midfield.
Johnson and Gladwin still need to do more to earn another contract in my view (latter need to be fit)
Henry, Ashby-Hammond, and Maguire on loan and not convinced yet on them. Henry not featured much so could be recalled
Others (None featured more than Dom Telford who left in August!)
Forster, Khaleel, Mukena , Adeyemo and Fish (on loan) all on two year contract. Not seen much of any of them. Adeyemo looks best of these, and Khaleel showed promise last year.
Roles shows some promise, and I think Swyer will be recalled as not played enough
Omole has hardly features so hard to judge
Kastrati, Brown, Davis, Greensall all out on loan and not featured
We are in target to finish with 66 points, mid table, so not bad.
January transfer window.
I feel any bids will be for our core players, but we would be willing to let any others go. Scott has made it clear he wants Maguire to stay, plus he said he wants an experienced striker. If we are going to push for top 10 or even playoffs Wagmi will need to give Scott funds, and I feel we need to add experience throughout the team (Scott has finally admitted this recently). I would like a new keeper, two centre backs (right and left sided), a central midfielder and a big striker, but would not expect to get all.
