I have seen references that the Walsall scorer, Isaac Hutchinson, was a former Red, so maybe that's what motivated him to behave like an arsehole after he scored. I suppose the greatest insult I can give him is that I don't even remember him.
I’m guessing 2000 people chanting “w@nker w@nker w@nker” before you take a penalty is always gonna influence how you celebrate scoring it….
Weird really
They were chanting it at the ref. Not Hutchinson. Jeez, keep up. He was a dickhead to the home fans despite zero provocation. All the ire from the crowd was aimed at the incompetent match officials. Hutchinson should have been booked fot that celebration, but the ref doubled down on his poor display and bottled it.
The penalty decision was just one of many errors. He was not clear with his decisions. One moment in the second half he pointed for a Crawley goal kick then gave Walsall a corner. He missed many incidents of players holding and pulling back opposition players ( from both sides).
Walsall were a big strong and physical side, the type of side we often lose to. We were able to hold our own. Their big centre forward was the sort of player we could do with.
The centre forward was Jamille Matt, who has done the rounds with a few clubs and is still a handful. And yes, after seeing how the ref booked Will Wright for his fairly modest goal celebration at Gillingham, we’ve seen some far more provocative ones from opposition players go unpunished… like both AFC Plastics’ goals before Christmas, then the Salford winner and last night. Certain refs’ names seem to crop up regularly when it comes to controversial decisions and last night’s ref, Busby, is certainly one of them.
Not quite what happened Ashdown. The ref thought the lino was going to give offside but the Walsall player never touched the ball and shepherded the ball out for a corner. The ref then realised it was a corner and changed the decision.
Thinking about that if one of our players had tried to clear it would the attacker have been offside for shepherding the ball out?

Am I the only CTFC fan who would like to see the following 4-2-3-1 Starting Formation & Starting XI IF all Players were FIT!
Goalie - Addai Back Four - Gordon Ransom Olagunju Omole/Mukena Defensive Midfield - L Kelly Lolos Attacking Midfield - J Kelly Gladwin Tsaroulla Centre Forward - Orsi

It seems a No Brainer to Me - but I dont think it will ever happen under Scott! Infact I think we are a Million Miles away fom it EVER Happening!
Wouldn't disagree with that apart from swapping Lolos and Gladwin around....if Gladwin is ever fit again that is but 4 at the back has to worth trying surely.

Beat me to it. Swap Gladwin and Lolos and that's a pretty decent team. Obviously still depends on what tactics they're told to play, but that eleven is not bad. And yes! Switch to a back four. Defending over passing around please.

Agree with swapping Gladwin (when fit) with Lolos, but would play Lolos up front with Orsi, so more traditional 4-4-2. Would play Wright instead of Gladwin until latter fit (as less likely to be booked than Williams!). Seen very little of Omole, Olagunju, or Mukena, so would probably play one of them plus Conroy or Maguire to add experience. Once the younger players proved themselves, could look at playing another of the younger players too.
A further comment regarding the officials. The linesman checked the goal nets before the match and at half time. What he failed to do is check the net after Kelly’s goal. Not seen a ball hit that hard since Bobby Charlton. Watching it back on reply I counted 7 passes in and around their area before he had a clear shot at goal, it may have been more. A contender for goal of the season.

Indeed, it was a very well-worked goal. I enjoyed that one more than most.

I agree it won't happen under Scott. He stressed in his Walsall interview that he only has plan A and will not change the way he plays. I.e. 3 centre backs who like to go forward sometimes, and one striker. I can't see him changing things.
