To help you decide: www.famousfix.com/list/people-from-crawley Although you can only vote for the big ones: Robert Smith & The Cure (Music) Gareth Southgate (Footballer/England Manager) Alan Minter (Boxer) Dan Walker (Sports journalist/presenter)
(so you cant vote for Simon Wormull that makes the web link above)
People from a certain age and background would suggest………….
TONY DOBBS😳

That's it, close the list, stop the vote. I had thought Mad Mary was the likely winner but then up steps Tony Dobbs! A legend especially in Langley Green and somebody who you wouldn't cross! Imagine him in our back line, Williams would look like a choir boy!!

He was quite a bit older than me but he was closer in age to my brother at Northgate Juniors. I may be wrong but I think he kept goal for the school team. There are some pics of teams from that era on Crawley FB groups. I was in the same year as his sister. You’d probably think twice about crossing her too!
I remember Big Tony playing dominoes in The Pelham Buckle. All seven dominoes nestled in one hand, tattoos on his knuckles that would fit on other people’s forearms!!
His Brother, Barry still runs The Dr Samuel Johnson.

You're out of date with that, John. Barry retired from running the pub last autumn, and someone else now has the lease.
