With 14 games to go (just under a 1/3 of the season), we have the same points as we finished on last season, have scored the same amount of goals, but 6 more points away from home. Orsi has also scored 3 more league goals that Telford did last season.
The question is how many more points/goals can we and Orsi get?

Let’s take one game at a time and try to win 42 points. Orsi has scored enough goals this season to ensure that he will be heavily marked. This should give openings for other players to score.

The improvement on last season is huge. There are still problems that need ironing out (inaccurate passing, poor defending, lack of attacking threat, possession for the sake of it) but hopefully SL will work on these in training. If the performance against AFC is anything to go by, that's already happening. So much potential in the team, SL just needs to unlock it. We're getting there. I still think we are too inconsistent to mount a play off challenge, but it's possible. If we can continue the winning run and pick up points, we will be right up there.

SL has said in post match interviews the possession football is something that wont change.

Possession football is great as long as there is some end product. We need to attack more and stop sodding about with the ball in our own half until we lose possession and concede a soft goal. These modern coaches that think you can win matches by keeping the ball, what's that about? You can't win games if you don't score goals.
Two wins on the bounce is great. If we start losing due to playing Betsyball again, you have to wonder just what our owners and manager actually want the team to achieve?

Brighton are a good example of high possession football but if don't put chances for example away and get punished you lose a game. It helps of course unless an OG you cant sore goals without the ball but its what you do with it and sideways/backwards passing when it happens too often irritates fans and we've seen signs of that at home lately this season.

Come on Asdown, dream a little! 42 points is for losers when you are where we are. Lets give it a go and if we go down fighting we wont mind - what we would mind is pussy footing it about sideways all of the time and not showing any gumption to go forward.
Well, I suppose there's a point in saying that the opposition can't score if Crawley has the ball. The trouble is that we often can't either
And the other trouble is that having tip tapped the ball around in our area or just outside for several minutes, we have been guilty of passing to an opposition player and putting him in on goal! So yes, the opposition can score when we have the ball providing they are patient enough! :-)
Erm….I’d say he’s being highly positive aiming for 42 points…..
Too right JB. Sorry Ashdown. I'm so addled I forgot we were on 46 already and thought we were still on 40 (2 wins ey!) and that Ashdown was only looking for 2 more points this season!!!
We are playing at times the best football I have seen from a Crawley side. SL has a style of play which he will not change. What he wants is for the team to do it better. I agree with his approach. We have the strongest bench I have seen at Crawley. When we bring a player on he immediately knows where he fits in. Yes we can make improvements. I would like lolos to look before he shoots or passes. Switch wingers during play.. we did last night with Forster suddenly turning up on the other side. We have become a team rather than a collection of individual players. Carry on like this and we can only improve.clubs that constantly change style and managers only go in one direction.

Aha, but technically, they have the ball when that happens

Hard to disagree with anything you’ve said there ashdownred.

Agree with most of that. Really harsh to single out Lolos. He's one of the few players who actually shoots when he has a chance to, too many of them either look for an unnecessary pass, or take too many touches and waste the chance.
We look a far better side under SL than we have for ages. I wish he would stop with the possession for the sake of it approach. We could be doing so much better if he encouraged the players to attack more (I mean in every game, not just against AFC) and dispense with the sideways and backwards passing. It looks shit, it doesn't achieve anything, and it pisses off the fans. Sometimes we do it even when we are losing, there's 10 minutes to go and we should be chasing the game. We play keep-the-ball, usually in our own half, rather than getting it upfield and trying to score. God knows why.
So we'll be mid-table at worst this season. That is progress, of a sort. We could challenge for promotion next season if SL is backed by our owners in the transfer window this summer. A big if. But I'm ever hopeful.
