I know we have only just finished 23/24 but what about 24/25 pre-season any thoughts, wishes? After Hearts away be good if we could attract a top Scottish or foreign side to the Broadfield. Birmingham appear to be doing an international tour and they are not alone in that so are Wrexham. I would like to see us keep it UK based. I think the days of Brighton at home are now long gone and please no Chelsea under 11s or West Ham under 21s.
I would like to see a Championship side or two, at least one at home, and perhaps some National League/NLS sides to start with.
Now we are League One I don't think we should be playing local sides such as East Grinstead or Three Bridges. They are not suitable opposition, and we should not really play anyone lower than Horsham.
Disagree. The Three Bridges friendly is a pre-season tradition. The club should always support our nearest neighbour like this. But we play too many local non-league sides who (no disrespect intended) don't provide the sort of challenge we need. We should be playing Championship sides really.
Spurs kids are always good for a laugh though - we always thrash them

Agreed that a game against Three Bridges is a good way to support local football. Never become too high ans mighty for your friends - they might remember that on your way down

Yes the Three Bridges game is something of a tradition and guarantees a decent crowd at Jubilee Field and a derby of which we don’t get any in the league. We will in the 2025/26 season though as both us and Brighton will be in the Championship 😁

I agree, whilst I enjoyed the Three Bridges friendlies in the past we need higher quality opposition and refs that protect us from OTT challenges - we cant afford to lose players pre-season because of (no intended disrespect) poorly timed tackles etc. All that said I'm sure we will have a mix as some of the lower ranked opposition we'll see trialists and some players maybe coming back from injury.
I can understand supporting local teams, but we should not rate trialists on how they play against them. We have signed a number of strikers such as Davide Rodari and Alex Battle whom played well against these lower teams but never made the step up.
If we play these teams we should play the young squad players who don't play too much.
The games against Three Bridges are ideal as a formalised training session, held early in pre-season. I would like to see us continue them, as it supports local football, and I can remember the days when we were happy to host such games.
I agree with the sentiment though, by the time we get into the last 2/3 weeks before kick off, sterner opposition is needed
There won’t be a Three Bridges friendly this season. They are having all their PSF’s away from home so their new artificial pitch can be installed. Going forward we should not be doing PSF’s on artificial pitches anyway.

Maybe they can come to our place then.
seriously? We are not a charity. Play proper teams where we can be tested. That does NOT unclude East fvcking Grinstead and Horseh1t Horsham ffs!

Keep that match, we were of their size once , and it was not that long ago.
