He’s has a few pelters on here in his time so let’s give Gabi full credit for that, the team looks better with his signings in it rather than making do with Kewell’s.
So...our Italian leader has had a full pre season with his squad and the opportunity to bring in some of his own players. And what do we get. Probably one of the most entertaining first 45 minutes seen at Crawley for a very long time.. I am going to stick my neck out and predict a top 10 finish this season and a half decent cup run. Let's hope the guys on here who were calling for our leaders head most of last season have a very quiet season on this forum...
Superb performance we looked much better than a poor Salford team, surely they aren’t that bad? For promotion candidates they looked woeful. Grego Cox was superb on the wing, always looking to run in behind and was involved in all the best attack’s, he’s really improving. Ferguson played well in midfield and got forward a lot and scored a good goal. Camara was full of energy as always, but lacks finesse and gives the ball away cheaply sometimes. Bloomfield was a threat in attack. With those 4 players and no Palmer and Poleon we looked much more mobile. Only two things let us down. Firstly we need to be more ruthless in attack, should have won 4 or 5-0. Secondly we need to cut out the mistakes at the back and stop giving the ball away cheaply. But overall I feel much more positive after that performance.
For my money Ferguson was my MOM strong read the game well always looking to play the simple ball capped with a superb goal but pleased with the whole day, catering, home crowd and the result, all that was missing was leaving the ground to the sound of I've got a feeling by Black eyed peas, oh happy days.

Yes the catering from Tilgate bakery was good. Had 2 large tasty sausage rolls for £2 which I think is reasonable price other pricing seemed reasonable, although a few people around me not happy that no chips were being served- a football staple!
As everyone has said probably the best first home game of the season for a very long time? Plus we didn’t get screamed out of the bar at half time (I really hope that has now been stopped for ever), and we got free rolls after the game from one of the staff in the bar as they hadn’t sold everything and were going to throw them away, nice touch. I hope this new attitude on and off the pitch continues for the whole season, COYR!

Indeed Stephen, good job I forecasted the win then. I'm surprised you didn't take the chance to tell Cioffi at the forum what a good job he was doing - perhaps you were hedging your bets too?
It does look more promising now GC has started to get rid of Kewell's underachievers and also Selim's January window players.
A top 10 finish would be good (although perhaps not unreasonable if we still have a top 10 budget?). On the other hand judging him after one win is perhaps premature.

Hard to read too much into one game and so early on in the season, but I was surprised at how poor Salford looked, they were all over the place at times in defence, we may have just caught them on an off day. Hopefully though this is a sign of the potential of this team and we are going to kick on from last season now!

I agree chips at football is like chicken at kfc (apart from when they run out!)
I believe all our subs were forced by the dirty tactics from some slum of a northern dump. The ref was far too slow getting his cards out and as for the (i think contested) drop ball was it because he hadnt a clue? Only it looked like a certain Reds free-kick to me. Nasty opponents that I hope get thumped every week and relegated. PS in case you hadnt guessed Im not that keen on Salford City. PPS surprised no one has mentioned a non-illuminated scoreboard yet! PPPS Bloomfield and Palmer played a half each. I know who I'd rather have start the next match. The one that started today! Anyone else thoughts on this?

You left a bit early, black eyed peas were there at 5.10
